Icelandair and Alaska Airlines Partner up again!

Today it seems at it was announced that Icelandair and Alaska Airlines have decided to partner up again.

Great news for SagaClub/MVP Members.

No details have yet been released on the Icelandair website how point collection and spending will work with the new reintroduced partner, but there is some information already for Alaska members.

Also some information on the US Icelandair page now;

http://www.icelandair.us/information...hip_agreement/

It says MVP members will earn Elite qualifying miles when travelling on Icelandair, but it doesn't directly state that for SagaClub members travelling Alaska

Members of Alaska Airlines Mileage Plan can begin earning miles on Icelandair starting Oct. 1, and through Dec. 15, 2015 the airline is offering double miles.* Miles flown will count toward elite status in Mileage Plan. Members of Icelandair’s Saga Club can begin earning Saga Points for flights on Alaska starting Oct. 1. Redemption for award travel will start later in 2015.
I think that is a bit unfair if flights with Alaska will not count toward elite status with Icelandair if the MVP members are getting it. But probably only time will tell when Icelandair updates its Saga Club page.

I don't find any indication that Icelandair Saga Club points can be used on AS flights...is there any news about that?

I have 53K Saga points set to expire at the end of December, and don't know what to do with them between now and then.

I remember reading it would not be until the end of the year that would it would be implemented and become possible.
