With the DFW-NAN route now in service, does anyone know which lounge is used for J passengers at DFW? The partner lounge page on their website has yet to be updated.

I'm currently holding a LAX-NAN-AKL award. I am SFO based and there is also SFO-NAN-AKL but I avoided it originally due to A330 despite the cheaper avios cost compared to LAX.

Wondering if I should hold an SFO booking as well to see if it maybe switches to A350, but based on what I'm seeing here with the A350 going to DFW and only 4 of them in the fleet, that seems unlikely and probably not worth tying up 100k avios for a year. Curious if folks here have any better insights than me though.

I wouldn't hold your breath. Back in February, we booked AKL-NAN-SFO on the A350-900. When FJ added the DFW route, they pulled the A350, so we're now on the A330 to SFO. Without hearing any concrete plans to add planes to their fleet, I can't imagine them pulling A350's off LAX or DFW.

Did you ask about changing to an a350 route. Id like to just see what they say and we can get our own tickets from lax or Dfw if needed.

Yes, we're on the waitlist for the LAX and DFW legs back to the US on the A350. Fingers crossed. Flights were booked with Qantas points, so having to deal with them instead of FJ.

Had the chance to do the DFW to NAN A350.

Great experience. I would rate it same as Delta One for a point of comparison.

Only bummer is the IFE selection being slim. If IFE is important to you, maybe try a different airline.

I'm on this flight in a few weeks and curious about a few points based on your experience:
1. How strict they were on carryon bags? The website shows max of 15 pounds. We're originating in BDL with AA approved carryon size, albeit probably around 30 lbs..
2. If you connected from an AA flight, was AA able to check you in for FJ?
3. How was the load in J and Y. Now at 5 weeks out, only 1/4 of J seats taken.
4. How early did boarding start? We have an 8 hour layover and booked a day rate at the Hyatt, so curious how far in advance to get back airside,
5. How was customs in Nadi. I see LAX, SFO, YVR arrive around the same time.
Any other observations on the flights is appreciated.

Thanks!!

happy to help.

My carry on was also 30 lbs. at check in they weighed it and put a sticker on saying approved carry on. I think it means 15kg limit.

you dont see many people with both a carry on and a backpack. Made me feel iffy but I got through ok. Unknown if that wouldve been the case if I was not in business class. I would try to minimize the bulkiness of my backpack.

load was 3/4ths full in business. My understanding is economy passengers get an email weeks out with bids for business.

I also did a day rate at the Hyatt! So I left Hyatt around 7PM then went to terminal (which go before 7, because they shut down the TSA precheck lines at 7-7:30pm meaning security is a hassle!). Chilled at American flagship lounge (not that great) then went to plane around 9:30 and I was the next to last on board. They boarded early. We took off 20 min early. I would say be at gate at 9pm. Could just be a one off because I noticed all other DFW Fiji Airways departures prior to mine were late.

Nadi customs was super duper chill. No stress at all. We were first to arrive along with LAX at 5:30am so maybe it varies. Only thing is make sure to have a ziplock bag for your liquids if you go out and back into security, theyre a little behind the times.

I went direct from DFW to NAN on my flight, I did not connect via American. I did attempt to check in early via an American desk and they couldnt do it, which is weird because American can check in British and vice versa. Unsure if that is going to affect you in any way though.

cant think of anything else other than feeling a little uneasy but ultimately fine about the carry on situation. Have a great trip!

Question 350/330 sfo

We leave for NAN in May. Snagged two award via AS/FJ partnership J from DFW, with a repositioning flight there. Thats down. On the return we had snagged award Js NAN to SFO. However we recently got a notice that the aircraft changed to the 330. Since we need to be back within 1 day and there was no other award J either side on the 350 we kept the change. BUT since been looking at the LAX and DFW returns, nothing. Then odd thing happened yesterday, friends going in August. They had also booked J awards from SFO but was the 330, theyre looking every day for others to get a 350. Out of the blue FJ notified them their flight was changed to a day earlier still out of SFO but on a 350! I somewhat assumed since FJ has so few 350s and theyre running the DFW 3x per week now that would be the last of the 350s to SFO since they do use the 350 every day out of LAX. Anyone know if theyre still running the 350 some days to SFO? TIA

I'm booked YVR-NAN in J in November. Scheduled to be A350. I really hope it doesn't get changed to the crappy 2-2-2 angled.

I hate that 330 angled, they ran it last year Nadi to HNL which is ok, 5-6 hour day flight. But for an overnight to mainland US it sucks. On a positive note, I have looked at Flightaware for the past week or so, they seem to be running the 350 to SFO on Sunday, for now…

Angled seats suck, full stop. Whoever thought they were a good idea should never have got to the level they did.
