AZAL points expiring - are they useless now?

AZAL points expiring - are they useless now?
2 years ago in July, I took Azerbaijan Airlines for a trip to Baku, and got some points in its own FF programme because I couldn't find any decent programme to credit the points. It says that a member should travel at least once within 24 months with "Azerbaijan Airlines" or “Buta Airways” flights to maintain active status of their account.
These two airlines mentioned do not serve my home region nor the region that I will go, therefore there is no chance for me to take an aeroplane on these two airlines again. Is it possible to keep the points using some other airlines beyond these two mentioned?
