China Airlines Cancellation

China Airlines cancelled my flight from TPE to HKG 3 days before departure date due to their "flight rescheduling" and the earliest flight they can put me on is 3.5 hours later, which means my meeting will have to be rescheduled. Know that EU airlines have specific code for inconvenience compensation related to flight cancellation, not sure if China Airlines has this as well? And are they usually easy to deal with on this kind of compensation claim?

Thanks.

They usually have no compenations on this.

You can insist to make them put you on a flight that departs around the same time but operates on a different airline, or make them find you a seat that departs earlier. If there's no way for them to do that, refund your ticket and buy another one from someone else (unless pushing your meetings = easier). You can also check to see if earlier flights are bookable and insist them to change you to that flight even if it's a different booking code cause it's their fault for cancelling your flight.

Thanks for the advice, coolfish^.

They have put me onto a CX flight 30 min later than original time. Good enough for me!
