flyertalk and twitter
Hello Randy,
how about connecting flyertalk with twitter?
I can imagine that this kind of service could make threads like e.g. the M&M Lounge meetings thread more "live" and more spontaneous. Flyertalkers who choose to participate can get in contact more easy while they are at the same airport etc.
Just an idea.
Regards,

Good question. Actually we have some plans for that. Unfortunately, it looks like a member of FT has taken the FlyerTalk name and used it on Twitter: twitter.com/flyertalk. I have contacted that person some time ago about needing the address back for the interests of FlyerTalk but have yet to receive a reply.
however, other members of FlyerTalk are enjoying a TwitGroup:
http://twittgroups.com/group/flyertalk
and this feed is just a start of many things we can do with Twitter.
We've got a few other ideas and will leave this thread open for the input of our members who also have some ideas along these same lines.
Thank you for the thread and for your continued support of FlyerTalk.

I feel with pressure, they should hand it over. If not, Randy, I think you could contact Twitter directly as it seems the current "flyertalk" user is squatting on the url.

Are Tweets and Facebook updates telling burglars when to strike?
Sam Diaz: The burglary of an Arizona video editor made headlines because he thinks that his Facebook and Twitter update habits may have led to it. He not only told his network of social media friends that he was going out of town but also shared some adventures of his road trip.

Thanks to the kind work of member ScottC, we now have been able to register FlyerTalk for Twitter. Yesterday we configured the look to closely resemble that of FlyerTalk and are in ongoing meetings discussing how Twitter might be used to the best benefit of our members.
Twitter can be used in many different ways and we'll try to make sure that all are considered before tweeting. In the meanwhile, feel free to click on over and register to follow FlyerTalk on Twitter.

As well, ScottC helped to set up the Twitter registration for BoardingArea.com as well and they will announce something soon as well. Following BoardingArea will help in following TheGate, the blog of FlyerTalk.

cool news. recently Conde Nast Traveler magazine writer Wendy Perrins made a list of the best travel Tweeters and of the five individual honors, FlyerTalk members took two of them.
Hats off to gleff and Kiwi Flyer.
