Randy,
I started a thread on Community, where I requested the help of my fellow FTers to locate a member of our community. The thread in question can be found here:
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=880823
Now... before I posted, I contacted one of the moderators to ask whether it would be a violation of TOS to post such a thread. I did not receive a straight answer...only something like "why dont you use PM...." ...???!!!!
A couple of days after this "not very useful" exchange of messages with this moderator.... since I got no straight answer I went ahead and started the thread.
Ive just seen that my now another moderator has jumped in to save the day
- and closed my thread.
What is going on...?
- Im not attacking or flaming anybody
- I asked one of the moderators before posting
- Im not looking to cause any trouble... I just want help from folks in finding this FTer
Am I asking too much....? Is it that hard to understand that by locking this thread... it will eventually get lost under all the others and fewer FTers will have a chance to see that Im looking to find someone...?
Sorry, but this kind of moderation just makes no sense... (I assure you harsher words & concepts come to mind right now).

Randy... Im sorry but Im afraid I have to report that Im now getting insult added to injury.
A moderator from the Community Forum is now asking me to "thank" him because another moderator had actually deleted my thread....
So according to this moderator, I actually have to thank him for "only" locking/closing my thread.
Please note that this shows what sort of operating procedures the moderators are using.... it seems my thread was deleted and nobody told me.... unless of course the official story will be that it was deleted but then 'rescued' by the other moderator... hence there was no time to inform me that my thread had been vanished.
Still.... its strange that after the kind of moderation that this thread shows exists... some moderators have the nerve to send me PMs complaining about my dislike of their actions.... and then (in a second PM - after seeing that Ive posted my disgust here) actually telling me "the next time" they will act like the other moderator.. as in the one that deleted the thread.
Seems like the Sherrifs badge has gotten to some folks....

I was under the impression that Community was the one place on Flyertalk where threads could name other Flyertalkers - indeed, be about other Flyertalkers.

Randy has asked that questions on moderation be directed to him via PM/Email
Randy has asked that members not discuss moderation in open forum. We are closing this thread to give Randy a chance to answer as he sees fit.
