A modest title proposal

Dear Randy,

I just realized that several "Original Members" do not show the "Original Member" title on their signatures.

Among them are:

Beckles, member #35
Counsellor, member # 70
Quiet Lion, member # 245
Randy Petersen, member #251, and
Rudi, member #258.

There may be more, but these are the ones of which I am aware.

Would it be possible to add "Original Member" to these most esteemed original member's sigs?

Out of curiosity, have any of these members (outside of Rudi, whom I know has) expressed an interest in the title?

Not that they aren't deserving, just wondering.

certainly a tech bug since i easily recognize all these members and have nothing but the greatest thanks to their contributions on FT. I could be very wrong, but I do not believe that any of them have ever noticed or contacted me personally about this.

I'd rather just leave it alone and if by chance they contact me, will gladly add the change.

Here's why. Other members will now start to look at their titles and think that perhaps they should be determined to be "Original." What date in history determined when one as an "original?" I really don't know but what do i say to the next member that asks me? I can go and research each person. I can try and read a number of their posts to see if the type of content they are or more importantly have been posting is worthy of "original" status. Who makes that decision? I know that if i asked 100 members of FlyerTalk to tell me what date in history would go down as being one worthy of members granted the "original member" status, it's likely I'd get 92-96 different answers. At the end of the day I'm sure it must be something in history, but original changes over time. For instance, with the change of ownership of FlyerTalk, does that now qualify as a new "original" date? Again, I don't know. Was original when we changed from UBB to vB a reason for an "original" date? Again, I don't know and hope not since changing a tech platform like that is hardly original in terms of managing these types of bulletin boards. Something in the past made some members "original." Was it all registered members prior to the first major member Do, the PIP? Again, I do not know. Was it just one of the many anniversary dates of FlyerTalk? Again, I don't know.

For those named above, the only thing i can think of is that they had special titles at some time in their past and when those were removed, the system did not automatically revert.

As for me, I'm quite happy just being plain "Randy Petersen."
