Exclamation procedure for nomination of thread as sticky?

Randy, apologies if this is covered elsewhere, but I wish to ask you how one can go about doing this. I would normally try to contact the moderator of a forum to do this but this is for a thread that to my knowledge does not have an assigned moderator.

Thank you.

Gaucho, forums without assigned moderators are moderated by the senior moderators. Feel free to send one or all of us a PM -- SanDiego1K, gleff, Canarsie, or cblaisd -- and make your request.

Thanks Gaucho for the question and it looks like a friendly Moderator got you the answer you needed.

Actually i read your question a few times and it triggered an idea. In the little symbols accompanying each post, there is one for "Report Bad or Misplaced Post." I'm wondering if we should have one that simply is a "Help" symbol. That was if you ever need anything, not just the bad post stuff, you have an easier time thinking of where you could get an answer. My guess is that we could use or re-purpose the "Report Bad Post ..." because it would all go to the same group of volunteers.

Any thoughts on this? For the more experienced members on FT, it may not be that big a deal, but i'm thinking of how we can assist the new posters on the block.

Anyway, just a random thought when looking over your post. Thanks for the question and I am positively sure one of the Senior volunteers will be glad to assist you.

Works for me. And it's certainly more user-friendly than "Report Bad Post".

Just change the icon to something that says "Help". Maybe a life preserver or something of that nature. And the message that comes up after clicking on the icon could suggest using this to report malicious or questionable posts, spam, advertising messages or simply if you need the assistance of a volunteer moderator in this forum.

Frankly, the Report Bad Post button is already used for the purpose of not only asking for help, but also for offering help especially in the Delta and Hilton forums in addition to its original purpose.

I am grateful for those FlyerTalk members who used the Report Bad Post buttton to assist me in moderating forums to help improve them.

I simply figured that the Report Bad Post button was a feature of the vBulletin bulletin board software and could not be altered in any way.

I fully support the idea.

Agree with the posts above mine - an excellent concept. ^

On Craigslist, the button reads "Flag this post," but you can flag a post because you think it's bad OR you can flag because you want to nominate it for "Best of Craigslist."

After you click on the "flag" button, you get the choice, as well as a comment box to state your reasoning. That seems to work pretty well (although the choices here would be a bit different) -- just saying "Help" seems a bit vague, people might confuse it with a site help function.

Changing the "warning" icon or whatever it is to a "flag" icon would be more general.
