Using the Likeness of FlyerTalk
Hi. This is my first post to the ORP forum, but hopefully this is the right place for it.
I've started a thread over in the Northwest WorldPerks forum about creating our own t-shirts with funny tongue-in-cheek slogans/designs for the WorldPerks Elite faithful to wear when traveling, or just at FT events (see the thread here).
I'm wondering if it would be possible to obtain permission to use the flyertalk logo on the t-shirts and designs. Now, to be upfront and clear, these t-shirts are not being sold for any profit; rather they are being sold at cost to the manufacturer. Or, if it's not OK to use the flyertalk logo, is OK to use the website address somewhere on the designs? I'm nothing close to a legal buff, so I have no idea about copyright issues and things of that nature, but I do know enough that I should ask before I do. And I figured who better to ask than RP. So, what do you say?
Thanks.

My personal apologies for not replying to this sooner - a life of interruptions!
I see no problem using the FlyerTalk logo for the purpose in which you describe and I'll see that a logo is sent to you.
We've always enjoyed tongue-in-cheek slogans ourselves and are celebrating 10 years of of selling these t-shirts in case you had not seen them:

Let me know how else I can help and again, very sorry for the delay in answering your request.

Did you think about lanyards? will make name-badges again for the next FlyerTalk Tour de France DOs and getting FlyerTalk lanyards would be really cool

Actually the Art Dept guys mentioned that to me and we have some on order. I want to make sure they serve a purpose before making any announcements. Thanks for the suggestion. We might need to promote you to "Do GrandMaster."
NOTE: For those that do not know, this member hosted a Do in which he designed an agenda of member events, directions and other very cool info - including member names and a small flag graphic of the country of their origin and printed one for each member with the hope that there were lanyards - the kind you often wear around your neck at conventions with the plastic badge holder - available. We are considering the same as part of a move to bolster the support we can give members who sponsor various member get-togethers around the globe. He did a marvelous job. We hope to introduce that and a tool to help all members create a Do Web site for your events.

I appreciate the "blessing" to use the likeness, and I think it will only make the shirts that much more fun for FlyerTalkers.
I anxiously await a logo so that the t-shirts will be perfect.
