When are we going to get the Freddies in Canada-----particularly since Randy is spending so much time there...figuratively speaking.......lately.

Sir Freddie dies
I think some sort of memorial talk at the awards will be appropriate.

Oh, that's very sad news. :(
I had the pleasure of meeting him at the Freddies one year. He seemed a very wonderful and gracious man. |
After following this thread and having a history of obtaining these jr suites in excess of 80 to 90% of my stays, I was thinking, if I go (and I've reserved a room just in case) to wing it, chance it, or just check in early aft and hope to get one of those suites.
However my last stay last week, gave me a tiny room (602) that had lousy wireless reception even though it was in the front tower, the bathroom was about the size of an outhouse and I was just thoroughly disappointed with the entire stay. So I think I'll revise my strategy and book the jr. suite.

Besides Kathy...you couldn't possibly qualify for an AARP rate anyway! :) I mention the AAA Jr. Suite rate of $155 because this property has 20 Jr. Suites and that's it. There are no true one-bedroom Standard Suites. And while I'm certain many of the Freddie-nominated attendees will be staying at their own nearby brands and at other hotels...I think if someone wanted to stay "on-site" and have a bit more space...then locking up a Jr. Suite now for not a whole lot more than a regular room rate, might not be a bad idea. Rather than counting on the usual complimentary Platinum Suite upgrade you might usually expect here. I just got a feeling there might be a lot of Webflyer folks, nominees, and just plain FlyerTalk SPG Platinums at this puppy (if FlyerTalkers are again invited to attend) that might create some heavier-than-normal competition for these Jr. Suites. Therefore some readers may want to lock one up now while they have the chance. :) |
I hope to attend!

Don't forget to vote, if you haven't already done so. Ballots close March 15th.
Cheers. |
Thanks Sharon for the reminder and yes, please vote. we hope to get near that 400,000-vote level this year.
As well, I spoke at Sir Freddie Laker's memorial service last week and I'm tickled to report that both Lady Jacqueline and Freddie Laker. Jr. are very interested in continuing their presence at the Freddies and have expressed an interest in being in L.A. Again, we value your input as members of these programs and would love to include your vote in this years Freddie Awards. |
Just a heads-up on two threads in Community Buzz re: Freddies...
1) For the Freddies night - ie, are you going. This is NOT to be confused w/ actually formally rsvp'ing through the official manner, but just to give us a heads-up on who's attending/who to look out for that night to say hi, find at the event, etc 2) For the Freddies Weekend - activities are being planned on the Friday that includeSony Pictures lot tour (rsvp needed for headcount/reservations), Santa Monica Pier, the Getty Museum, possible beach or shopping for non-museum types, drinks and/or dinner at SkiAdcock's home (rsvp needed for food/booze count). Saturday possible activities for those still in town are beach, farmers market, or see the 5 Klimts at LACMA (special exhibit at Los Angeles County Museum of Art). Cheers. |

Cheers. |
What to Wear to the Freddies?
What type of dress code is expected at the Freddies? Typically I'm a short pants and Berks type of guy but will happily dress more formal is it is requested.

Business casual to business dress is the norm
|
I wore a suit at both of the Freddies I attended.
Even Randy wears a suit, and he's a Nike kind-a-guy... |
