Ask Randy or Ask the Masses

Randy,

Is there any way this forum could be set for more limited posting?

Why do I ask this. There seems to be a pattern to the posting, in what I feel is a VERY valuable forum, that usually goes south fast. People come here wanting YOUR opinion for one reason or another. Instead by the time you have been able to answer (which can be a bit with your schedule) they have been picked apart by the rest of FT, both on their topic and for asking in general (Starwood thread a great example). It seems to me that defeats the purpose of the forum. The forum advertises itself as a safe place to ask RANDY a question, not to ask everyone a question (if posters wanted the views of everyone else on FT they would put the question out on a main forum).

I would suggest somehow having this forum set so only the OP and Randy can post here (with the caveat of if another poster has a follow up question on Randy's response it can be posted also). Lets get it back to what its title is ONLY RANDY PETERSON

Not only would this cut down on the carnage that seems to happen to OP's but also make this forum much easier to read and find value in. We would know we could find your view here and not the other stuff.

Please consider.

Thanks!!!

Ok for the rest...start tearing this apart...ready...set....go......!

Coincidentally, on another ORP thread today, Randy wrote:

"Now, I don't know this member, or even think I have ever stayed at the hotel in question, however it does appear to me that this member is asking a question of William - The Starwood Lurker. I don't see your name, my name, or the question being addressed to any but William - The Starwood Lurker. Now, i don't know about you, but i hate it when i specifically ask someone a question and everyone else butts in."

It seems that here we are specifically asking Randy a question -- so maybe the rest of us (myself included, despite this post) should also butt out.

I view this forum a little different than others - solely because at times members want to know which way the wind is blowing. I don't have as much time as some of the others to click through each forum and such, so have always appreciated members coming to me. I realize that the signal to noise can create challenges when a question is being asked of me, but unlike other forums where i think it is important to allow members to interact directly with a program representative without noise, I',m willing to let stand a long tradition of many-to-one in this forum.

Many of us are aware of the risks and challenges of letting oz and CameraGuy answer questions for me (hey, you guys both know i say this lovingly...) or for parnel speak from my pulpit, but in many ways that is just a small part of what makes FT such an interesting destination on the Web.

Warts and all - I'm here of the members.

(and for all of you that warn me to discontinue this path, well, I am my own person.)

Thanks for the observation and you make many outstanding points. But I just got to be me. A great day to you.
