Guess what, it's been the same for me in many forums. It certainly is not in the travel technology forum, and unfortunately, I would have to say, now also in the ORP forum.

Actually, I did know the moderator in the LH and Star Alliance forum, because he saw his primary role as a provider of valuable information and as a helper.

Too bad he is gone now.

I post in Travel Tech all the time.

I found it interesting the doc did not regularly post there until the new moderators were assigned. If one were into conspiracies, one might think he started posting stuff that was "general" tech related on purpose.

But I don't subscribe to conspiracies...

Not an attack, just an observation.
I understand you apparently cannot wait, but it will come soon enough, so do not worry.

Actually, I could care less if you post or not (since we rarely interact outside of this forum). I just think you continued posting weakens your 'grand exit'.

I am not sure what this has to do with the topic of this thread which I started, but doc had about 25-30 posts there before they became moderators, and posting more is not a TOS violation.

Equally amazing to me that the .04% that do seem to have problem never seem to get tired of arguing about it.
Just out of curiosity, where did you get the 99.96% number? How do you know that many more people agree with the alleged ".04%", but are just not vocal about it. Perhaps they see what happens to posters that do ask "unpopular" questions. Perhaps they do not have time. Perhaps they have more important things in their lives...

Just an observation.

But that's a good thing, since I am not looking for a "grand exit" - maybe these are categories in which you think, but not mine.

Just reminds me that you posted quite a bit about your resignation as a moderator.

Again, let us please not derail this thread here further, otherwise it might just get deleted!

Like 78% of all statistics, I made it up.

The number of 40,000 active FTers has been thrown around. There are about 10 vocal critics of moderation that frequent this forum. Hence 99.96% is in the ballpark.

IMHO, if this place were moderated with more of an "iron fist" (like another travel related BBS I know of), I think there would be fare more complaints than are being emitted by the current vocal minority.

Again, I base this on the fact that outside of a few contentious boards (Travel/Safety, OMNI, ORP), most moderators are largely invisible.

You're welcome to agree or disagree.

To set the record straight (since you're into that): I resigned in private, and only posted here when my name was brought up.

As to this thread being deleted: one can only hope.

Care to address my conspiracy theory that doc posted off topic on purpose?

If you counted me in those, for the umpteenth time, I have not been a critic of moderation.

I have been a critic of an abuse of moderator powers by a very small number of moderators - 1 to 2.

Those give all other moderators, who, as you say, are largely invisible, a bad name.

Too bad that again and again, when a single abusive action of a moderator is
criticized, it is managed to solidarize other moderators (and possibly Randy) against the person pointing this out and labeling that person "anti-moderator".

This is "pro-moderator", because it is an attempt at keeping the overall standard of integrity of the moderators as high as it has been.

The same thing goes for the guidelines and policies which were suggested by doc.

No wonder that those who screamed the loudest against that are those who would be most in need of them.

As confirmed by FewMiles in writing, doc's posts were not off-topic as in against the TOS. I saw them, and they were not. It was alleged that the amount of them was "against the spirit of the TOS", whatever that is supposed to mean.

Again, may I ask not to keep forcing a discussion of the specific case of the banned member.

It appears that you are trying hard to get this thread deleted, as your last post also confirms ("one can only hope [that this thread gets deleted]").

Can you comment on the member in question's posting pattern in Travel Tech year to date:

0 Posts in Jan 2004
0 Posts in Feb 2004
0 Posts in March 2004
0 Posts in April 2004
1 Post in May 2004
0 Posts in June 2004
0 Posts in July 2004
3 Posts in August 2004
12 (plus those removed) in September 2004

The posts that remain were largely on topic. Those removed were "general tech".

Guess what happened in September 2004? New Moderators.

Hmmmmmm. I'm sure that the member in question was a total innocent in all of this.

Will disciplinary action be taken against skofarrell for willfully continuing to try to derail this thread?

This thread was about a general question whether the policy of deleting whole threads without explanation is a good one.

skofarrell is again trying to force a discussion about a previously banned member.

Please stay on-topic.

Thank you.
