FT Calendar Issues
Randy,
A few members have been talking about problems using the FT calendar feature in this thread:
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showt...eferrerid=3030
It was implied that the current policy is that only moderators can post to that forum.
Just wondering if you have rethought that policy?
Thanks,
William

A dirty little secret: i never really thought in the first place. I'm fine with a change in thsi area. It was our hope orginally to have open calendars for use by members since i personaly love the visualization of meetings rather than multiple threads.
I think it got tabled with some of the server performance issues we experienced at first and frankly I forgot. Members are fortunate that you and Sweet Willie and cawhite60152 have shadowed my recent time on FT to remind me of this unfinished benefit for members. While Dan is on vacation for a few weeks, I think he left the keys to the tool shed in the usual hiding place and let me see if i can poke around a little to get the calendar function started. But beware, i see all these cool buttons and switches and things and i just want to start pulling the levers. I'm the goofball who engaged the 'member referral' system without even knowing how it worked. It might be reasonable to expect that i need my own personal moderator....
Thanks for the question and the follow-up.
Cheers,
Randy

OK, while i don't have a 30 inch new monitor from Apple to disply all the intriging choices that the admin displays in living color, I did manage to flip a few switches so test out your (hopeful) new ability to enter events into the Public calendar. Any member hosting a member 'Do' is strongly advised to list your event on this calendar.
If it doesn't work yet - blame me. If it does, will some other member please step forward to accept praise because i know if i pull this off amd accept the praise, you'll all be asking for something else for me to add, delete, change and likely spindle of multilate.
On second thought, I just may have missed my calling as a tech guy.
Let me know what wrath i have created this time.... Cheers.

Thank you, Randy, this is awesome. I hope to God that FTers don't abuse our latest privilege, and that the calendar becomes a vibrant, active tool for learning when and where we can meet.

Randy, perhaps do a gen announcement at top of forums letting folk know they now have that capability - think a lot of folk don't know & they don't always check ORP. Just a thought. Cheers. Sharon...
