If I'm not mistaking you to someone else, I believe we met in the MJM football bet payoff evening after dhammer53's brooklin reality tout in March 2003.

The content of apirchik's wonderful post got me thinking. I've been on FT pushing six years, and the "financial" benefits have been immense. Almost as valuable have been the nearly three years of moderating at FT (jeez, I can't believe next month is three years!).
I'm convinced the moderating exercise has made me less reactionary, as time passed. Maybe its partially been accelerating job demands, which have occasionally made moderating a time burden, but I believe I just have plain mellowed out. Threads that might have pushed my buttons two years ago, just cause me to shake my head and move on.
Can I tie this personality variance to other things, such as creeping age? Sure, but I'd like to attribute a lot of it to the continuing lesson in human behavior I've witnessed by posting and moderating here. This has been a great post-graduate class. I now am very hesitant to interrupt the many professors that are teaching at this universary of higher education :-: .

What percentage of the folks who have posted to this thread attended the original PIP?
I was amazed that so many of us are still hanging out here in FF World.

My life is much better for it, so for that I thank Randy from the bottom of my heart.

What a wonderful thread...! Exactly the reason why flyertalk not only is a bulletin board but a unique community of nice people and friends that I've met around the world. Flyertalk has become part of my life now - and even my wife doesn't complain anymore if I bring my laptop on holiday trips and use hours to read and post on flyertalk (at the moment I'm sitting in room 3509 in the Sheraton Kuala Lumpur with a beatiful view of the Petronas Towers just after sunset - you guess it, with flyertalk accessed via my laptop): we fly businessclass on upgraded tickets and have lovely hotel rooms - unthinkable three years ago...
The downsides? The weird look of not yet flyertalking friends and colleagues when I speak of my trips; Mileage runs as a subject of my dreams at night (not yet nightmares); the no-more-coach illness getting chronic; flying FRA-JFK just for a night with strangers to take part in a weird event called Freddies; and finally this strange shivering that occurs out of a sudden if I'm not online and flyertalking for a certain time...

Okay, Randy Petersen, since this thread is about setting the record straight...
Is it not true that Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado Springs, of all places, was actually named after you, save for the accidental misspelling of your last name?
Or is it possible that the name House of Miles is actually the secret code name for this United States Air Force base?
There is no need to be defense-ive in clearing the air about this, nor am I attempting to force it out of you but it just seems to me to be incredibly coincidental...

In November, you will be able to attend a meet by getting on a short flight to Venice. Take a look at http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=327031
