Self Moderating Marriott Forums
Randy,
Since the Marriott Forums are self moderated I will ask that the following threads be closed as it is 1) way off topic
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?p=2853420
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showt...8&page=2&pp=15
Thanks
PS I think it's time we appoint a moderator to handle such things....

Well I think we could still continue w/o a moderator if everyone would agree to not making personal attacks, but keeping the discussions to the issues. If that was followed, there wouldn't be some of the problems that have surfaced of late. However, if it didn't appear that folk are willing to honor a no personal attacks policy, then I think a moderator would be a good idea.

If the lack of civility or inability of members to abide by the FT TOS would result in the withdrawal of Marriott's designated FT concierge or several other long time posters whose input I have found to be invaluable, I would say it is time for a moderator. Otherwise, I would be afraid of posters abandoning any self-restraint and relying on the moderator(s) to intervene in any disputes, real or imagined.

I think the two above mentioned threads enforce the notion that need for moderation.
It gets nasty in there

I'd consider the (unpaid, thankless) job, but only if Cholula does it, too. After all, he is lifetime Platinum, so what better choice could there be?

I was not happy at all to see the content noted in the above threads. Absolutely no excuse whatsoever and someone at least deserves a strong email and reminder of the goals of all of FlyerTalk at the very least.
As for a moderator - I think it a wonderful idea and related more to the traffic of that forum and the continued growth of FlyerTalk. Members have and will continue to need posting guidance as the traffic grows and I know there are several level-headed members who would not hesitate to give something back to the community in the way of forum volunteer work.
I'll look into this Choula member you all mention. But there may be other volunteers as well. Certainly the Marriott Rewards programs deserves better than desention among some of their members.
Again, thanks for the heads up and please continue to contribute positively to the Marriott Rewards forum.
