Dong, Ding, Bling
I finally turned on the option to find out who dinged me (my one and only ding)!!!
And would you believe, it was Randy Peterson who dinged me!!!
I demand a public apology asap!!!
--------------------------------------------------
Note: the above is an attempt at weak humor. yes, I still love ya, Randy!!

Out of interest, does anyone know if OMNI is broken today?

Thanks Scott. Yes, I noticed OMNI has been working rather well in here this morning.
I just idly wondered if it was also working in the OMNI forum?

Glen, this was a very very subtle attempt at trying to interject some levity into all of these threads about reputation here in ORP.
Just trying to make a feeble attempt at suggesting that perhaps all the obsession with the reputation thing is really out of whack with everything else on FlyerTalk? Some people claim reputation is going to cause a lot of work for Randy, when they in fact have made the most posts about it...
Bling Ding Dong Thread summary (as of 10:48am): ozstamps: 26 (highest number of posts in this thread)
Reputation comments are going to be a big problem: ozstamps: 13
A New twist to Reputation: ozstamps: 12
total posts by ozstamps: 51.
That's more than the number of blings I've got right now
PS - Glen, since you edited your post to highlight a couple of words, I'll edit mine to highlight a few things as well.
Note - I didn't start this thread to comment on other thread's comments. I did it to bring levity to the forum. Since you interjected, I conveniently used your quote from your thread. Again, you give me far too much credit for thinking ahead. I am so flattered!

However if you think for one moment that this new announcement will "solve" anything - all I suggest is do not hanker for a career in politics, where accurately reading the wishes of the masses is an essential for success.
Do you really think the recent visitors to this Forum that have leapt up 20 times the usual level as they all LOVE this new feature?
This decision will create a mini RIOT on Monday. IMHO.
It will NOT 'solve' most of what I outlined above in any way shape or form. It will simply escalate it.
It WILL generate hundreds more hostile posts in this and other Forums, creating more divisivenesses and rancor and animosity among MANY members. Enemies will be made. There will be nasty emails and PM's among folks and a lot of that will inevitably spill onto the boards.
It WILL create probably hundreds of direct private emails to Randy - whining, sobbing and accusing others. "Demanding" he mete out all kinds of retaliatory and drastic punishment against the yahoos who posted 'nasty' things that were not true or warranted etc. I'll bet my house on that one. Human nature at work.
If Randy is working near 100 hour weeks right now, which I understand is the case, I can imagine this is precisely what he needs clogging his inbox on top of all that "real" work that pays the bills?

I can think of a number of FT'ers who have each made dozens of posts on this subject here. I count over 700 posts in the past week just in this Forum on the "reputation" issue. And the "Ding" history has not even been revealed yet AFAIK.
There has never been any subject in my 4 years here to have that many posts in ORP that I can recall. I didn't realise there was a cap per person -- thanks for all your careful research on it though.

I just thought I'd lighten everyone's day, since I'm sure everyone's minds were all depressed with thoughts of "Black Monday"...
Randy, if you're reading this, I'll call ya about dinner tonight... It has to be kosher though, or I'll DING you!!

a pubic apology
Glen, now that I know who dinged me (I still don't care btw), I'm glad you fought to get the dingers id'ed. Otherwise I'm sure the bling, ding, dong thread would go on for ages.
Now I'm gonna bling you. Just don't get upset okay?
I still love ya man!!! ^
PS - the purpose of this thread was to bring some smiles to FlyerTalk. Hopefully it did that...

Don't believe Dovster and I ever got an answer to our question as to whether reputation points given prior to having the minimum 20 points to actually give reputation change to the intended type (green or red) or remain grey. I still have a number of greys, so...

Now it all makes sense.
Those people don't have enough weight (posts, etc) to carry any reputation, so they are neutral , and have no impact.

My biggest problem now is that there's so many people I want to "bling", and I can only do 3 a day.
That's not nearly enough!!!
