Changed Format
Randy,
I find this new layout rather confusing. The old system had everything very well organized. Separating forums in rectangular boxes and even replies made it a lot easier to find and read. Even worse, when you click on a topic you see the latest reply first and have to look and hope to find it somewhere.
Flyertalk is now Flyermess!
Bring back the old way of viewing. It worked! Don't "fix" what works.
THUMBS DOWN! (For the record When I clicked on the tumbs down icon it displayed as a thumbs up.)

the lack of boxes around the posts is a glitch..but yes, it did make things messy. Mine is showing normal again.

McFlyertalk? I like that.
Can I order a hamburger with fries and an ice-cold cola whilst dispensing and receiving frequent flyer miles and points information?...

Changes Made!
Well, I'm glad to see the changes in format have been made. Returning to rectangular blocks made order where this temporary new format made it difficult to read and use.
Canarsie, you can make many changes through McFlyertalk but you could not make these changes there. Only the powers that be could and did.
Again, don't "fix" what works.
However, the thumbs down symbol still gives a thumbs up symbol when clicked on.

We waited for this?
Count me as one who will wait another week to see if things get straigtened out, but for now this board is now unreadable and unuseable.
Too much more and I think others will appear to take the place of a once great board that has lost its way.
I will give it time to work out the bugs -- we'll see

Out Again
I wrote and praised too soon. We are back to no rectangular blocks. Please fix again ASAP!
And once again, don't "fix" what works.

Wow - I bet Randy will be sad to see a prolific poster of 35 years standing leave the Community.

I feel sure the techies are working hard on these small loose ends.

I think the "no boxes" thing is faulty scripting.
Overall, sorry to say, but the "re-launch" has been pretty disastrous, both on a conceptual level and as far as implementation is concerned.

The "no boxes" etc. glitch is not a scripting error, it's a result of the Cascading Style Sheet (.css file which defines the "look" of FT vBulletin) not being delivered from the server for whatever reason. This is being discussed on several other threads too, particularly in the Technical Issues forum.

Man, what is up with the newbies and non-posting long-timers ganging up on the WebFlyer guys?
It's new, there's gonna be some bugs. They're working on it. This seems like common sense to me. Nonetheless nearly every forum has the same "why is this so SLOW?" and "I don't like it without the boxes" claptrip littering it up.
Give it a rest, guys! They busted their asses migrating an enormous amount of data between two fundamentally disparate systems in just a few days' time. And if there's a bug/glitch/issue so egregious that it really prevents you from...not contributing as usual, then take a minute to look in the suggestions and tech issues forums where it likely has already been posted and followed up on - no need to share it with the Dining forum or In The News.

The dialogue here and in Technical forums evokes our (mine included) typical reaction as a frequent traveler when "our routine" is disturbed by something big (new terminal, new LCC, new TSA routine, new FF program rules, etc). Similarly, we've just had our routine on FT disturbed by the major Board change.
The FT founders and dedicated staff can explain it better than I but as I understand it there was no more option for just humming along with the old layout as much as we all may have found it easy to use. It just reached the end of its hack fixes and gaffers' tape. In just a few days, we've seen many new features, much increased speed, and much more is coming. Let's try to bear with that for it will serve us infinitely better than the comfortable old slipper we were all used to, which had been so chewed up it had to be retired.

fixed again
Well, the rectangular blocks have returned.
I pointed this problem along with the thumbs down symbol showing as a thumbs up symbol to get them fixed. If no one writes anything these changes will be accepted and we are stuck with them. Better to point out problems now than later.
By the way, the thumbs down symbol is still showing as a thumbs up symbol.
