Have you e-mailed the moderator (B. Watson) or Randy prior to posting in this forum?

In fact, while I briefly reviewed the Cathay forum, it appears as though B. Watson did indeed shut down the threads where people in your view made fun of your grammer. That's what moderation is - if there is personal attatcks on a thread, the thread gets locked, and occasionally - if material is offensive, it gets deleted by a moderator.

It appears as though B Watson did both of those, exactly what Randy has "hired" him to do.

Flying Mom, I can't address the question of the moderation, but I want you to know that there are very few people on Flyer Talk who can write in any foreign language as well as you can in English.

The next time someone laughs as your English, put a big smile on your face as you think of him attempting to post in Malay!

I honestly believe Flying Mom can speak a lot better than she makes us to believe.

Her grammar may not be as good as some, but still it's not your atypical Singlish vocabulary. And hence I believe she is making it up. And it takes someone from Singapore (me) to be able to pick this up.

As I mentioned to Flying Mom in another thread on the CX forum, it's funny that she can't speak, but yet her spelling is remarkably good.

Her sentence structure is all wrong for someone who speaks 'Singlish' in Singapore.

A case in example:
<font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2">Randy why your B. Watson allow people to be rude and make fun my english and not do anything?</font>
It should read like this:

"Eh, Randy, sir. How come B. Watson make fun my English and let other people also make fun me. How come you not do anything about it, hah?"

Similarly,
<font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2">I wish I can write good, i trying to improve but i also say i don't need be treated this way and moderator do nothing and deny anything wrong. Why also topic get delete? </font>
A true blue Singlish Singaporean speaker should write:
I wish I can write good. Speak good also. I try to improve but I say also you don't treat me like this. The moderator do nothing about it and say nothing wrong also. And why topic got deleted?

Flying Mom perhaps you are not who you say you really are. I mean, why on earth would a woman, supposedly of voting age, would take the time to rant and rave over such an issue as her bad English and bother writing about this to Randy. I mean, come on, this is something that would ruffle the feathers of someone with a more child-like persona than you.

Or better yet, "WHY LIKE THIS?" sums it all up!

This was was cross-posted in the CX forum minutes before:
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum85/HTML/002360.html

You posted in this thread noted in a search that is no longer in the CX forum, so I can only surmise some moderating is happening.

I don't see anyone complaining about your English in this thread you posted to. Or this thread. Or this one.

B Watson closed this thread you were involved in.

I haven't found any more threads (without going into the archives, that is) in the CX forum that you have posted to. Could you share a link to where you feel you were badly treated and the moderator did not step in? And in that case, did you email the moderator?

Also, bear in mind that B Watson does travel quite a bit! And so it's possible things might go a few days without action as he might not be checking in, especially if you don't give him a heads up.

Regards,
Gary

Flying Mom: I can answer this, let's start backwards. You ask why topic was deleted. My guess is you are relating this to the post by Chek Lap Kok which I moved yesterday. His post in which he rants about this "English" issue and my rebuttal of him, was his reply to this post:
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum85/HTML/002351.html

Now, for the life of me, I fail to see where in this post the issue of a moderator and a members' English is the subject. All I saw was one member being a wise ... to another member. No medaretion issues involved and certainly no "English" issues involved. And then all of a sudden I'm a bad guy for moderation and English. As you can see from this post - which is locked - there is no editing and no mention of moderation and English. The thread you are referring to does mention these things, but only as an answer/retort to my action on this thread.

There is absolutely no prior (and to this day) email to me from Check, you or anyone else about the moderation in the CX forum and this English issue. I suppose I can appreciate that you seem to hold me 100% accountable on an issue that you, Chek and no one else bothered to even ask assistance on or even inform me. I find that very suspect. But nonetheless, let's look in to your complaint.

This English issue. It looks like from the evidence as put forth from other members in that forum, that the moderator did in fact take some action on your behalf. You haven't been around long, but we have another member, a member called Arturo, which has been a fixture on FlyerTalk for a very long time. His "identity" on FlyerTalk is associated with broken English - such as what you are posting about. It may have been that in the early days of your posting, other long time members did not know how to take your posting style and may have thought you were trying to become the "Asian Arturo." Honestly, that was my first thought when I looked at this post.

As for the actions of the moderator - he did moderate the issue of your English and did close the thread. Now, you and Chek might not have liked it that he closed it three comments later (and the three posts in the middle were not about your English) but if we closed every single thread based on a single word of infraction, you'd join another member in crying about over moderation. I thought the moderator did a good job. I might have contacted both sq345 and a1983 individually to tell them to back off and I don't know that the moderator did not do that.

I do find that Guy Betsy on this thread is being a bit encroaching and will ask him to back off on this item.

The facts remain: neither you nor Chek ever contacted me. The facts remain that in your recent posts of this neither of you ever included a link to post where your concerns were. I can only help members if they take me on as a partner. I need to know the timely information, where it is and exactly what your point of view is. If after looking things over I can see your point of view and take some action, life is great. If after looking things over I can't seem to side with you, I would only hope that you at least still respect the value of FlyerTalk.

Thanks for your time, but please, make your intentions clear and give supporting facts. The quality of your English in no way offends me, I speak no other language than English and can at least admire you for trying your best at an other langugage.

Agree.

Heck even us Kiwis and Ozzies get by without too much mocking of our accents.

Your English is easier to understand than some of the native English speakers on this forum!
