FT Dining comments
The FT Dining board is a great tool for all of us who travel a lot and who spend time alone in strange cities without knowing our way.
Even cities we think we know have many hidden surprises. Our FT Dining is a great place to go!
However, looking at it globaly, there is something wrong with the setup of the board.
This concerns Europe. Italy and Germany are the only countries with more then 10 hits recently. Europe has several regions, this would lead to an easier find of recent discussions.
Nothern, Western, Central, Eastern, Southern Europe would maybe lead to more focussed discussion. The major hubs (not listed in the favorites) could be highlighted.
Same would go for Asia. The Americas already seem to have the above suggested split.

Splitting dining into too many segments might be counter productive?:
This regional dining "Forum" for instance has had precisely ONE post in 18 months.
Most comments I have seen appear to favour some consolidation of Forums in Travel board, not adding a heap more.

Thanks for your support ozstamps,
Although you seem to have missed my point, you seem to agree that we need to reduce the Europe dining board to just 5 regions instead of all those countries that get just a few posts!
Further on your point, I tend to agree that it might be more efficient to have a board that has a main focus on travel in general, this could include hotels, sites, food, land transport tips and general tips.
However, the focus should be on where we go, not a page for food in Portugal with 2 posts since it started.

Thanks for the comments. You'll be pleased to know that there is an effort going on right now to restructure the entire Dining board to make it far more usable and adding in the ability to rate and review restaurants and hotels from the point of view of the frequent flyer - similar in some context to Zagat's. That and other changes will be soon to launch. Currently there are a number of members of FlyerTalk testing and contributing to where this change will go. If you are interested, please contact me and i'll arrange for an invite with password, etc. to participate. It is my hope that this area becomes as valuable as the Miles board to those of us 'foodies' and others. The concept of such a forum was orginally proposed in an effrot by another FlyerTalk member - Dorian - and as with other areas, will evolve with FlyerTalk.
But again, thanks for your input.
