Okay to copy/paste posts from other IBB's?

If it's publicly published information and we credit the board with a link, is it okay to do that here?

Why not? A relevant quotation (not reposting the whole thing) plus a link would seem to be perfectly fine.

There are inherent copyright issues involved. Some board, like the AVS forum, state them explicitly:

I would treat general information the same way you would cite a news source. Include an excerpt or synopsis of the other post and link to the source.

I don't know why your question makes me think of this addition, but I think I should also say that it is inappropriate to post something a FlyerTalker said elsewhere and post that info here. Not saying that I suspect you would do that, but it feels like it should be added as part of a complete answer.

I think that FT's privacy policy says that we shouldn't post any personal information about another FlyerTalker, even if it is publicly available, unless they have already made it available here. Memberships on other boards, and views expressed there could be construed as personal information.

That's what I was thinking. On other boards I frequent, there are some threads which have OP's (and posts in response, as well) that are, IMO, thought-provoking and interesting, and rather than regurgitate them here in my own rambling way, it seems that perhaps it would be fairer to simply post that OP here, giving credit to the author, a link, and getting responses here. Thanks!
