Good thing kid did not win. That would have caused a whole bunch of interesting things to follow. With $500 and 10,000 miles on the line we might have actually, finally have had to do something about duplicate handles for fictitous relatives. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

I posted my guess on August 23, 2003, approximately 2:37 AM MT.

(Too bad the time/date that each entry was made wasn't displayed also.)

Kathy

P.S.: In case there was any ambiguity in my post above, the word "evidently" has two meanings: 1) "clearly or obviously;" 2) "on the basis of available evidence." I meant the latter definition, of course. See www.m-w.com , the Merriam-Webster Dictionary online.

Kathy, perhaps you were just looking for some group intercourse on the subject. See www.m-w.com for the first definition.

Group intercourse....

Isn't that what FlyerTalk is all about? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Have we drifted off topic yet? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Yes, I did not have available the interface and was not aware of the submission time. With the five days prior rule, the winner of this promotion is gregeseattle. Congrats and my apologies for the mis-check of information.

Congrats to member: gregseattle for being the winner of our FlyerTalk 2,000,000th post promotion. With a guess of August 29 @ 4:20 pm, it came closest to the real time of August 29 @ 4:11 pm.
This member will win our $500 cash gift and 10,000 bonus miles in a program of their choice.
Gee, another winner at 4:20! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/thumbsup.gif

Congrats! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Congrats, greg!

FWIW, and for future reference, might I suggest it would be easier to simply code the guessing screen so that your guess must be at least 5 days in the future?

That way you don't have to go backwards and remove guesses, as you would always know that the winning guess had been entered at least 5 days in advance.

Great math Greg. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/thumbsup.gif http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/thumbsup.gif

Congrats to ALL who even guessed the correct day. I was a week or so out. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

One little quibble: The title of the announcement still reads "FlyerTalk 2,000,000 post winner: ptpinit."

Otherwise, I'm glad the rightful winner got his due! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

And since gregseattle recently dropped mrsgregseattle's laptop and broke it, the winnings come at the right time!
Congrats.
