While I agree that post counts lend extra credibility in some cases I think that regular contributors (or lurkers) get to know the helpful people rather quickly. I think you could even eliminate the counters and most people wouldn't care. That being said, they do help keep my "geekiness" in check http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Now here is a problem. If you edit a post it counts it as a new post and then gives you the 150 second timeout. That is a bit extreme, in my humble opinion. Can this be adjusted?

Are you SURE? I haven't had that yet....

...don't edit! Make a point and stand by it http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

I often spell worse than anyone on FT and edit that out. Have not had the flood control with edits today IIRC, in a lot of Forums I have edited in.

Pete,

What happens when one of the Pro-doc cliques starts bumping threads?

When has that ever happened?

In any event, the same common-sense rule would apply.

I personally find your incessant whining about doc and "sadly no/ http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif" posts far more annoying than any of doc's posts. Should I throw a fit about it and clog up the boards with garbage until I get my way?

Sure. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Yeah, some posters spell so bad that they have to change whole paragraphs and subjects when they edit. Too bad that many of their best spelling mistakes get saved by others for future reference.

personally I am not a great fan of the new flood control, if I had my way I'd have no flood control http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

I personally can see that some people do post in OMNI to bump their post count, it is something I personally don't get but some threads like 'WAT' and 'Who is the next Flyertalker to post' etc. require frequent posting

Well, today you do get your way. Thanks for the input, and you others can thank this member for the 'revised' even newer flood control. It is now... 60 seconds.

May I suggest that we try to lay the "pre-OMNI closedown" grudges to rest and move-on?

cactuspete Aug 29, 2003 9:07 am

Grudge? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/confused.gif Try re-reading this thread in context. Like you, I'm merely making a suggestion.

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/thumbsup.gif http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/thumbsup.gif for cutting back flood control to 60 seconds.
