Poor moderating
Please see: http://www.flyertalk.com/travel/fttr...ML/013517.html
I feel it is extremely poor of richard (a moderator) to suggest not going to a forum of Flyertalk.
Again, the issue gets raised. If the other forums in Flyertalk are not to be used and supported by the moderators, WHY HAVE THEM?

We have a saying in my hobby.
Just because you have a uniform it doesn't automatically make you a referee
So why have other forums - other topics.
Some people just want to have one giant thread and my thoughts after all this time is nothing is going to convince them and it does nothing but shorten my life to worry about them
btw - thanks for posting the link I never would never have read or seen the review.

Yep, lets post everything in Miles/Travel Buzz, as that is the easiest option.

I had skipped over this thread for the past few days because I thought it was about a hotel.
Before we lynch the current moderators in OMNI, be aware that due to board architectural limitations, we can't easily move threads from FT Travel to FT Dining. I did move the thread the ham-handed way.
Thanks for pointing out the mis-post. An email to me will get things like this corrected much more quickly in the future.

My real issue is that a moderator chose to mispost and suggests that no one visit a forum that he obviously has not visited in awhile as other FT'ers do go there.

I'm fully aware that you've made some very decent and dedicated efforts to drive traffic to the Dining board.
Perhaps an email to richard would be more effective than condeming all of us moderators in Randy's forum?

I also have sent emails to him, he does not reply.
Edited to add: I was perturbed that you felt I was condemning all moderators and could not see what led you to that conclusion except for my post of If the other forums in Flyertalk are not to be used and supported by the moderators, WHY HAVE THEM?
This was not meant to be a condemnation; it was a more of a rhetorical statement. As in I believe that posts should be relocated if they are in the incorrect forum and in no way should a moderator speak negatively/not support a forum.

Sorry, moderators are volunteers who get to keep their opinions. We are fully entitled to speak out against absurdity.
In keeping with that spirit, I agree with you, but not in the way you'd like. Since they aren't being used, let's not have them. There is little point in enforcing rules for the sake of rules. Clearly, effective communication is not being served by the current structure.
Please see my proposal including a request to eliminate all of FT Dining and all of FT Travel:

The issue raised then is moderators are deciding the structure of FT by their actions (and posts). Do the moderators have the authority from Randy (who if I am correct owns/runs FT) to decide the structure of FT?
a specific example: a thread re: Las Vegas is posted in Travelbuzz. There is a Las Vegas forum for the purpose of housing threads on Las Vegas. Moderator richard chooses to not move post to Las Vegas forum so in essence he is deciding on the structure of FT. (Why he does so is not the issue I'm raising)

I didn't see Sweet Willie's comments as lynching..
Without second guessing too much:
If SW emailed Richard and got no response I can imagine that is very frustrating
If Richard had posted WITHOUT THE COMMENT "This probably belongs in FT Dining but nobody goes there so here it is in OMNI." maybe it would have slipped by, or someone else might have said, "hey why not in dining" or whatever.
But to in essence slam FT DIning (which I now read much more often thanks to SW's efforts) on the part of a moderator seems not the right way to go about things.
I don't have a side in this, I wanted to say what I saw happening.

I do agree that you have a right to be irritated.

Due to the fuss over this topic, I actually visited FT Dining for the first time. I would suggest cross-linking posts to the proper place in that forum to get people used to using it. Leave the mis-posted one where it is with no other information than a description and a link.
