Well, the past few days have made clear that the moderators have some "issues" they need to discuss, between moderators moderating their own thread, moderators moving fellow moderators posts and having threads created to complain about them and then this jewel I'd say that the moderator guidelines are not being taken too serious...

as I emailed ot some posters on this thread -
I think Patrick (pallensf) made a mistake reopening it...he is a very
new member ( and moderator, I know) but it's not like he's been around
the FT community for a long time...he's very earnest and I honestly
don't think he realizes what he stirred up again..he has been back in HI
for a family funeral and missed a lot of the discussion....
I've also emailed him to close the thread too...
just thought you might want to know.I only know him a little cause he's
a local SF guy and seems to have FT's interests at heart...
squeakr

I see the moderator's forum has been busy--that's a good thing. I am sure they will help each other come to a common understanding.
Moderation is a process not an end result. I have been happy with most of the moderation and think that they deserve our support. Constructive criticism is also useful so that they can find the "right groove" for this board.

Guys, PLEASE lay off Patrick for this. He has been under a huge amount of personal stress lately and this was a very minor misjudgement that he acted to correct within hours. No harm, no foul. He is a great person, a very good impartial moderator and I think folks were very harsh to jump on him for this. I know that he has MY full support and confidence as a moderator of the Trip Reports forum.

You are right Sean. Sometimes some of us are quick to judge. Sorry.

Patrick, I like your style over at Trip Reports. It's one of my favourite places to visit, while I'm here at FT.
Keep up the good work!
