While I could appreciate that buying goods and services from the flyertalk store is helpful, what I would really like to pay for is the value that I accrue from flyertalk. Indeed, shirts, pins and otherwise all have production costs and so while I might spend $30-$40 on these things, no where near that would go to support this board net expenses. So I would rather see some first notice or something club that would be a closed bluetin board of special promos and discounts. That would be money!

Wouldn't clicking on FT's ad banners be any help? If wel all clicked on every banner once a day I am sure ad revenues would go up

Thanks for the kind comments here. FlyerTalk isn't really part of my business model with other products as you mention, it remains a simple effort to stay in touch with other frequent flyers. I'd rather not move into some of the areas you have mentioned as I am very comfortable funding FlyerTalk. There are two things. One would really help me and the other will really help you. As for helping me - honoring the TOC of FlyerTalk and being responsible in your posts will go a long way toward helping me. I think I've posted a few times that for the last few months I haven't had the available time to devote to FT everyday. When little flames break out or i have to scan hundreds of threads on behalf of members it really disrupts things i have planned. If you would all consider this the most important community of fellow travelers in the world, then i know that i can devote the time i need elsewhere right now. Second is that we will soon be introducing commerical products with the FlyerTalk name to them. I would then ask that you seriously consider purchase or adoption fo those products which will really in turn return a financial coffer for future growth and benefit of members. Among these are a global pre-paid ISP, a FlyerTalk global phone card, and a partnership with Moonlight Labs for some enhanced travel tools for you to use and enjoy.
Anyway, as i said, I appreciate your willingness to assist but the cost of FlyerTalk is my dime and I'm only to happy to provide it. Enjoy your day.

Thank you, Mr. Petersen, for your gracious response. I'm sure that virtually all of the other participants on FT appreciate your providing this forum as much as I do.

So very well said, Law Lord! I, for one, truly appreciate the kind provision. And I'm glad Randy is happy!
Thanks very much Randy!

thanks Randy!!
i guess i'll go ahead and buy a few more t-shirts anyway.
still feel guilty-- maybe i can buy you a drink or dinner sometime when you're in the Metroplex (although American Airlines probably has a bigger expense account!).

And WOW--the idea of a partnership with Moonlight Labs is brilliant. The product line that results from such will undoubtedly be a favorite of many.
Thank you for creating & continuing to foster the growth of this venue, Randy.
