Uncertain times...
Randy,
With the uncertainty created by the events of Sept 11, we hear more and more rumors about UA filing for Chapter 11, AC being in trouble, US Airways looking desperatly for more business before it's too late. We just have to look at Sabena, Swissair and Anssett, to see what might be pending for few other airlines.
With this in mind, I'm trying to find the best way to get miles/points into a program that won't collapse in the next few months and the only thing that I can think of is the various Hotels programs. I've been transfering all my miles from UA into Hilton. There is not much I can do with my AC miles other than redeeming them for a trip next summer. I also do transfer my miles from AA into Hilton as well. At least, I may have to buy my flights, but I'll stay for free wherever I'll be going!
Is there something wrong with my strategy? I know I could be buying the protection program you are offering, but other than that solution and my strategy, what would be the best advice?
Looking forward to read your answer

Doc,
Of course Chapter 11 not in plans. Do you think Sabena and Swissair make it public months ahead of time before shutting down?
I do appreciate your optimism Doc, but the reality is hitting the airlines industry real hard! In Canada, we lost Canada3000 with a 3-4 days notice. It took the general public by surprise! So forgive me if I don't believe in the crap the PR depts are putting together!
Randy,
Is Diner's Club or Amex programs good alternatives to rack up points until the uncertainty is over?

the Swissair nor the Sabena nor the Air Libert bancruptcy did kill the Qualiflyer program.
Fortunately the 'company/legal unit' running the Qualiflyer program is (legally) an independent company not really in danger to go bankcrupt too (but in danger to be a program with much less attractiv partners).
