I think flood control should stay at 60 seconds or in fact should be increased slightly. Web browsers usually have their "server is dead" timeout at 60 seconds. Sometimes, when we click "submit reply", our browser seems to get stuck and then times out saying the "server is not responding" when in fact our post did go through. We then proceed to click "submit reply" thinking that it didn't work, resulting in a double post.

One other point, shouldn't flood control apply only to consecutive posts in the same thread? After all, is the goal of flood control not to prevent accidental duplicate posts?

A side effect is that flood control means that people have to put at least 60 seconds of effort and thought into each post... or does it? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/tongue.gif
