Flyertalk Updates Questions
Randy,
Just a few questions from your latest FT Update.
1. You said "Among those items the TalkBoard are currently debating are Mandatory Email Addresses for Members Posting on FlyerTalk, Guidelines for
Moderators, Additional Forums (ie GLBT) and Authority of Reinstatement of Banned Members. (some of these have been tabled)".
You indicated some of these had been tabled. Can you indicate which ones? I am particularly interested in the GLBT Forum. If it has been tabled, no sense in our still "debating" it.
2. Any idea how much longer before the Town Hall is created? Or the smiles returned?
Thanks
William

William,
I've just finished implementing the smilies this afternoon, so you should be seing them now. I downloaded the most current smilies from UBB's site, because they've optimized them even more to mkae the file sizes smaller - yay for all you on 56K dial-ups!
If you are having problems seeing them, try clearing your cache or holding down the shift key and clicking "refresh."
Thanks,
Lisa

one question answered, let's get the rest of them done:
The GLBT forum is still up for debate and has not been tabled. What has happened is that I've asked that we open the addition of any new forums up to the membership for consideration. The purpose of this is to eliminate any bias from those that will consider that GLBT is getting special consideration. It won't get any special consideration, it will get the same consideration as any other forum ideas submitted from the membership or TalkBoard that we eventually consider appropriate for FlyerTalk - not all those under consideration will be approved. So please don't feel it is not getting any attention - continue to get support and input. Let's remember that FlyerTalk exists for hundreds of thousands of members and what I've asked the Board to consider is not getting in the small circle of chasing it's tail - reacting to every single item that comes along. There is discipline in leadership and it must be learned during this first TalkBoard.
And finally the Town Hall. The first design was a simple new forum similar to this but it didn't offer the expansion we need to provide a broad form of communicatio nto all members so we're looking at a new build of pages not associated with posting on FT. It is in line after this 12 Days promotion and is alongside the build of this years Freddie Awards....definitely by the end of the year.

It would apper that they have not yet reinstuted the old smiles. The one now showing are a mixute of the old and new?????
I think the only one that has been changed back is
The Talk Board did vote to leave in:

The rest of them still await updating.

Some of the smilies I downloaded straight from UBB, which meant I had to use what they've changed to. Their new smilies are just slightly updated versions of the original ones. If any of you can send me the smilies you prefer, that would be a great help.
I did switch over to a new thumbs-up and thumbs-down that I thought were a bit better, and the star and lightbulb are the same. If I get mail from any of you, I'll upload them.
Thanks for the help,
Lisa @ WebFlyer

Update:
I've uploaded "new old" smilies - with only a few changes to them - they're varying shades of yelow for FT colors, except where necessary for effect - mad is still red, etc. I also added a little tinting to the glasses of cool to make him even cooler. As for razz, rolleyes, mad, and eek, they will be coming soon, it just takes a little time to hack them back into the UBB code.
Thanks for your patience, and for your help Few Miles,
-Lisa
