Intolerance / appropriate content for FT
Randy,
Normally I would be vocal about any form of censorship, but in the few days since this tragedy we've seen some ugly things said on these boards. We've seen discrimination, we've seen intolerance, and we've seen a political dialogue which really doesn't belong on Flyertalk.
Rather than "selectively" censor views, I propose that these threads are removed entirely from FT.
I *hope* people acted in the heat of the moment rather than expressed deeply held beliefs, and I hope that by removing these posts now, future regret about what they've posted can be avoided.
We've got a great community, and I'd hate to see people "shunned" for something they've posted here in the passion of the moment. Ours is a strong and close-knit community. We should do everything we can to keep it that way.
Just my two cents. How do other people feel about this?

About the "selectively" reference. Any of these that have been removed, were done so because community members brought them to our attention. If some exist and haven't been attended to, it's solely because members of the community have not brought them to our attention and thus we might assume they are comfortable with their existence.
While there have been a handful of these to date, we can be thankful that they aren't the norm, which I understand is the new norm for most other boards. We have and will continue to recognize that this is a global board and will not react with only an U.S.-centric mind to things. So far, moderators and members have done a great job, and only a few members have gotten carried away. As most of us know, the extreme examples of misbehavior aren't from members, they are from unknowns who sign up only to post disparaging remarks and disappear. They aren't FlyerTalk.
Your remarks and observations are spot on.
