Off Topic Posts
A couple of weeks ago, there was a series of posts that had been moved from Buzz or closed. A big hubbub ensued. I don't know of a thread that has been moved or closed since then.
So is posting in an inappropriate forum now acceptable? For instance, here's a thread that's way off topic for FlyerTalk Community: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum95/HTML/001279.html It's been there for 6 days, but not been moved.
I'm just looking for clarification here, not trying to attack anyone or being mean spirited. Personally, I'd like to see posts like this moved to a more appropriate location.

I agree with dgolds. Many posts can be safely moved.

Whoa! There are soooooo many off-topic posts in The Buzz you can't *even* come close to listing them here. And the forum itself is almost but useless. In other words, boy do I agree! A lot more could be said on the topic, but I am restraining myself

MilesBuzz is difficult to define, a bit amorphous in nature, so I don't particularly advocate moving threads from there, especially posts that deals with multiple airlines or want to make comparisons. But the other forums (not including Omni, of course) have a pretty clear purpose. The one I cite above is way out of place in FlyerTalk Community.

As Moderator1 has stated a few times, many of the off topic posts in the Buzz probably belong on the FlyerTalk Travel board. There have been technical problems with transferring files to the other boards, and my understanding is Randy's people are very close to solving this.
Once this is overcome, the working plan is to leave older "misplaced" Buzz threads as is, and be diligent about newly started posts being put in the correct topic areas.

Has anyone pondered the idea of having a "read this before posting" topic like they do on the priceline board, going over things like appropriate placement and "please use search BEFORE posting a question" kind of thing? That might help, and it certainly wouldn't hurt.
Also, I have to agree with a lot of the other people that the board is too fragmented now. Question are being posted where they are sure to be read rather than in the appropriate forum. Are they looking to re-instate the "todays active topics?" Is that possible to even do with all the different forums now? Or can we wait until something hasnt been active for a couple days before moving it? That way it would at least get seen by those of us who don't have time to search all the forums every day.
