Another candidate for thread closure
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum94/HTML/004520.html
Started off as an innocent question about the CO plane that brought the soldiers back from Hainan Island. The originator unfortunately used the phrase "Red China" is his thread title. Has turned into a discussion of "Red China" and a referendum on Bush's election.
Any chance of getting this one shut down now, before it escalates into a war?

no more proof needed for me now, that 'moderating' is needed.
This is an international board, isn't it?
So please think (friendly) international and resist to make links between individuals and (prejudged and in their majority very wrong adjectives that go with any) nation/nationality.

While a request to review a thread on FlyerTalk should never be considered a given for closure or editing, it does give myself a chance to provide a constant measure as to what the standards of topics should be on this board. I have reviewed both the thread and the support of dgolds and Rudi and do find that the topic strayed from the thread itself. Given that oldbold was kind enough to provide for Skylink USA the answer he was looking for in the middle of a side conversations, allows me to close the thread knowing that at least a FlyerTalk member asked and received help from another. As always, I like it when I have help like this. Thanks dgolds and Rudi.

Yes, thanks dgolds and Rudi. A "little" moderating goes a long way.

Well here's another one that started out helpfully and then degenerated

Please look particularly the fourth post from the bottom of the first page; I'll not re-post the poster's insult or vulgarity, but you might want to look at the thread ....
