A sad day indeed!
|
selfdestrc .. Rudi usually doesn't need to mention where he comes from you'll find. The Tuescher's generally do the talking for him. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif

Of all people... RUDI? RUDI?????? AND GISELA TOO???
At least their multiple handles were not used to attack people, like myself. There are more guilty parties here. I'm ssssoooooo disappointed. And we discuss everything on this board so why not this? I'm also guilty of this... so where's my e-mail. Newself: I'm so disugusted with teh whole course of events these past few days that I think my presense on this board and in the community is no longer necessary. [This message has been edited by Catman (edited 03-01-2001).] |
thank you Mark (Catman) - but please don't worry
I don't believe (but am somewhat surprised that no one else 'confessed' to have received a similar email from Randy/FlyerTalk) that Randy's email to me was specific Rudi-targeted. I think it was a 'mass' letter to all holders of multiple handles under the same email-address. And in add, I REALLY, so far, ENJOY the situation to be in the middle of a flame-war (not even sure if that definition already applies to the, in my opinion still not terrible extreme, postings, so far). May be I just discovered a masochistic part of me ;-) I didn't say that I would leave FlyerTalk-Board - I only said that if Randy decides to remove one of my handles he should please remove all three - that doesn't (but might) necessarily mean my personal complete disappearance, only the disappearance of my 'Rudi' (and Gisela and Papst) handle. It is even more fun if Randy/FlyerTalk would really decide TODAY (Friday) to remove my Rudi handle - Rudi would than die a FlyerTalk-death on his real birthday! cheers http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif Rudi |
Happy Birthday Rudi! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
And certainly cooler, wiser heads will ultimately prevail! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif And surely soon too! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif If we do have some clear guidance from Randy, I do think that we can all follow the basic "rules" with truly minimal alterations. Hopefully, Gisela could easily update her email address, no? Isn't it a small price to pay, relatively speaking ? http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif Just a thought! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif |
A Rose is still a Rose by any other name! Multiple handles are not the problem.

My God! Talk about straining at gnats while swallowing camels!

Rudi, I hope this works out and you stay. I look forward to any post that has your name or Gisela's name attached, and have never been disappointed. I appreciate the time you spend to pass on information, tricks & tips, stories and experiences. They are enjoyable and worthwhile. Please do not let this situation have this effect.

Frankly, I'm disappointed in many of you.
Newself, your comment is so irrelevant that I don't even know what to say. I have no problem with Rudi or Catman (a great guy who I enjoyed a few Sams with once). But when you or others think certain people are bigger than FT, then we've really got problems. Sure, Catman and Rudi offer so much to all of us FTers and I'd hate to see them go, but I'm completely behind enforcing FT's rules. Sure, Rudi has never been rude with his multiple handles, nor has Catman. But that's not the point. Randy and his staff have decided one username per e-mail account. Rudi, your talk of published and unpublished rules and your knowledge of them is particularly disappointing. You're really splitting hairs. If you were an American, I might ask you if you know what the meaning of the word "is" is. If Rudi, Catman and Gaucho100K want to be "username martyrs," then if that's the price we have to pay to ensure that FT's rules are followed, then so be it. To quote (shudder) Delta: "No waivers, no favors." I find it odd that such FT die-hards who often lament how standards on FT have relaxed so much since the good old days don't support FT rules being enforced. |
Now this is getting interesting!!!
I wish I had multiple handles now!! Dorian |
Newbie here. Sympathy for Randy & Rudi & Gisela (don't know about papst/pabst). Let's not get too serious about what was clearly a computer automatic mailing.
Hey, I could create twenty email accounts if I wanted to, and so could anybody else. We love this place. Have learned much and we're trying to return a bit of it. We'll miss Jon Toner if he goes -- we hate that --and DroneKlax (is that a reference to the pilots' airport codes?) -- and will really DISLIKE it if the irresponsible few ruin it for the informative and pleasant many. So, thanks Randy -- please let us convince you that, since this part of your house is now public, a little discretion in the application of the rules is the better part of valor. Even in public law, most rules are written to be enforced as needed, and not all the time. Else civilization would grind to a halt. |
sorry dup post

Thanx, Counsellor. I'm very sorry also to see longtime, informative, community-minded members decide the crap was too much for them.
I'm one of the ignore-them & hope-they'll-go-away crowd, but then, I've never been flamed. Please stay Rudi & all. I'll lend you email addresses if you need (chuckle). |
