I agree with the first 3 posts.

I can't see why EVERYONE who posts is not required by Randy to also provide a visible email address. I do, always have, and so do 95+% on these boards.

All this nonsense about security is simply that. Nonsense. Open up a free email address if that bothers you, and use it for FT and only FT. It must of course be a "real" address as Randy's board sends the password to that address to start with. BUT let there be email addresses so responses can be made off board where needed.

If that rule is so "scarey" for some, well possibly they really do have something to hide. I very seldom respond to posters who show no email addresses.

Doc,

I doubt that the Bandwith problem is on Randy's end. When members complain about compulsive posters, it is due to the fact that sometimes we canot get a fast connection.

When I am at home or work, bandwith is not a problem. FT pages load quickly. The problem occurs when I am at a hotel in "East Overshoe". Those of you who only read FT on DSL, ISDN or Cable modem have no idea how slowly these pages load at 14K. The frustration in opening a thread that has a red folder, only to find a post that adds no value to the discussion is tremendous.

I post this request not only for the compulsive posters out there, but for all members. Before you post for no other reason than to simply post, please think of the poor member loading pages at 14K.

"Before you post for no other reason than to simply post,..."

And therein lies the problem - people simply have different opinions regarding what IS worthwhile!

I *know* that all *my* posts are worthwhile

Seriously, I can understand why people don't want to have their email addresses visible to others, whether it's a free email address or not. I have never wanted anonymity but if I got emails I didn't want (even if it's to my free email account) I'd delete it in a second.

So I agree with dg1.

Wow...

Thanks Doc.

You brought forward a post of mine that I would have never found. July 1999, when I thought Flyertalk's general forums still had a chance of not degenerating into a school lunchroom food-fight.

Long gone.

Never mind.
