Is this a sign that Delta is backing down?
I noticed in the September Skymiles newsletter that in the bit that describes the "new benefits" for Medallion members in 2001, the newsletter states something like "Platinum Medallion members will receive new Platinum systemwide upgrades..."
There is no mention of any specific number of Platinum upgrades. This is a departure from the previously stated "6 upgrades" which were previously announced.
We'll discuss this some more tomorrow during the chat, but I wanted to draw this to your attention and let others know of the wording.

I don't think so from this view. While having interesting conversations with Delta...nothing leads me to beleive that changebacks are a done deal. As you might guess from production times, anything in the September SkyMiles NL was probably written in July...well before the changes were even announced. I'm treating it as a false alarm and moving ahead with SaveSkyMiles.com Good catch though.....thanks. We'll use it as proof of misleading info......

Thanks again, Randy!
And remember, tomorrow, Thursday, October 19th, another DL related chat "Analyzing the change relative to competitive programs," in another live chat with Randy starting at 7pm MST / 9pm EST !
I truly feel this is important for ALL FF's and not just the DL "hard core!"

Just to add, in my Sept. 2000 general member (non-Medallion) SkyMiles newsletter:
referring to the "new" Platinum Systemwides:
"...for use on most worldwide Delta flights."
Is Delta trying to put in an "escape clause" to totally limit systemwides on the real big BusinessElite money makers? Go beyond capacity controls, and ban them on select routes altogether? They might not do it at first, but maybe in a year or so, they'll bring out this legalese (similar to United, I think.)

I agree with Randy, this news letter is printed well beforehand. I can't wait to see what is in the next one!
