The article on Elite programs in the new issue of INSIDE FLYER is right on. Things are just too **** good for the airlines. They are manufacturing elites by the hour, and reducing upgrade inventory about as fast. They don't think it's ever going to be tough again, and everybody is fair game. Raise fares, cram 'em in, and they just keep coming anyway. It's the tip of the iceberg, but the story really underscores the reality that anything but top tier is toast....and top isn't so great.
