Flyer Talker Pin

Randy:
With more and more FTers trying to meet at airport lounges, and other places for a drink, dinner etc., its difficult to identify people you have never met. Assuming we don't want to walk around with brown paper bags over our heads, what are the chances of the company developing some kind of small "pin" that we could purchase and wear to meetings simply to identify other FTers we had planned to meet. I for one would wear it whenever I was travelling simply to identify myself to another FTer I might run across.

I like the idea! It sure would come in handy when I meet Rudi for the first time at the arrival gate, at SNA (Orange County, California USA) on Thursday, September 9, 1999, for a FlyerTalk Get Together.

great idea, Vulcan. I've always wondered when I'm in a crowded RCC or CRC whether there might be other F-T's there.

Okay, I'm too lazy to do the search myself (especially on the slow connection I'm on right now), but there will be FlyerTalk luggage tags sometime in the (near?) future ...

Allegedly samples of such a tag exist already as does a list of 200+ Flyertalkers who will receive them in the first go-round.

yes Beckles, and those of you who are fortunate enough to be attending the PIP will be the first to get them. Then hopefully the rest of us will have a chance for them.

I still think the pin idea is good, because I don't see myself walking around a lounge checking out people's luggage tags...

Well you can bet that if we wear those luggage tags around our necks, we are desperate for Flyer Talk company!

Oh, MRLIMO, don't lose a wink of sleep worrying about how you will identify Rudi. Trust me, a blind person would easily find him at O'Hare, let alone John Wayne. LOL. We recognized him from 2 football fields away when we picked him up at the Marriott in Seattle.

Maybe we should all adopt Rudi's "Costume" as our official FlyerTalk wear--adding tiaras for the WWW.www Elite Members. Then we would be certain to never miss one another.

Punki, thanks for the warning! Finally, I am going to get my first good night's sleep in well over a month, since you have put my mind at ease. You mean I won't even need my spectacles??? "SNA, prepare yourself."

I'll look forward to meeting you and Joe on the PIP Express, if not sooner. Let the party begin!

The pin is a great idea! It could also start interesting (and useful) conversations onboard, with non-FlyerTalk-ers.

Re Beckles, etc comments re luggage tags:

Here's the (rather amusing) Show Me The Tags! thread located in this same forum.
http://talk.flyertalk.com/forum/Foru...ML/000043.html

And I think the pins/tags are a great idea as well.

I also think pins are a great idea - we don't always have luggage with us!

This idea seems quite popular and that's probably bnecause the idea is so practical. It's certainly something I can look into. Would you all suggest that the pin and the luggage tag are issued to FT's at the same time? I want to make sure that whatever we do to support your community that we are able to do it in a time frame that makes all this possible. Ideas anyone (in the meaqnwhile, I'll contact a pin company or two, actually there was one a few years back that gave away AAdvantage miles if you ordered from them....)

If we don't go with Rudi's look for the official Flyertalk "dress/wardrobe/uniform"
may I suggest Hawaiian shirts...

Like at http://www.hotshirts.com

They have an excellent collection. I am a proud owner of a few (Well had to replace that ALLEGEDLY old and tattered and smelly Hawaiian shirt that JAWS LOVED!)

And they will have a shop at the KIT KAT KASINO AND KLUB.

Randy-- Well, if the luggage tags are complete, I think we'd all much appreciate them before waiting for any sort of pin to be issued, which could be quite awhile longer. Not that good things aren't worth waiting for!! Just a suggestion, maybe pins could be distributed at a "House of Miles" get together sometime after the new year??
