Ummmm....not that Bill Shatner would not have credibility on the topic, but the song with the lyrics "why don't we just get drunk and screw" was written and first performed by Jimmy Buffet, in my recollection and a Wikipedia listing.

If your asking me if I'm old enough to get drunk, yes, I'm in Canada which means I only need to be 19 y.o to drink and I will be old enough to drink in the US by the time the DO takes place. As to annoy "old farts", remember we didn't do what your generation didn't do either!

Well I think that all of you that thought that "screw" was being used to refer to an act of intercourse need to reprogram your one-track minds. As my DIY skills are called on only in emergencies, I was hoping that I could have a drink and also learn how to tackle my next major task of having to screw some sort of coat hook thingy to the back of a thin wooden door. Words cannot express my disappointment etc etc etc.

Then again when driving past homeless people, or billboards I don't care for the content of, I don't close my eyes. It's good to be exposed to other viewpoints, both in real life and on FlyerTalk. @:-)

I usually use the scroll feature on my laptop or mouse when on a desktop to guide my pointer past things that I don't want to read, careful not to click on them @:-)

I liked the original title better.
FTers can be SUCH prudes (until you meet them in person!)
And more to the point, Common People was only covered by the Shat and Ben Folds in the mid aughts.
It was written by Nick Banks, Jarvis Cocker, Candida Doyle, Steve Mackey and Russell Senior, aka Pulp, and was a UK chart-topper in the mid 90s.
And further, it's 'DANCE and drink and screw...'

I read let's screw DOs to means to damn with the DOs but apparently I was wrong about the content and I'm sure I'm not the only one to misunderstand.

I know the song "Common People." In the context of the song, the words "dance and drink and screw, because there's nothing else to do" work. Out of that context, used by themselves as the name of a Do, they don't.
Not the first example of how context affects the message a given set of words conveys, but a good one.
I'm not a prude, but I'm glad it was changed.

^ to Scott and to Randy, as well. We should draw the line at a, "Let's Commit Arson and Rape Do," a, "Kill Your First Born Do," or even a, "Illegal Drug Selling Do." The OP in the original thread wasn't advocating anything illegal -- quite the contrary. I couldn't care less what the Wall Street Journal thinks of FT (and the WSJ isn't going stop referring to FT as a credible source for opinions about travel, even if it did cover a Screw Do). I am particularly disinterested in having FT conform to some nebulous greatest-common-denominator moral standard, particularly when the objection to this thread seems to be a variation of, "Think of the children!" Screw the children.

Speaking of editing thread titles, is there some technical reason why moderator action is needed? One time I needed to correct an error and I could not get the change to take effect, so I finally had to RBP myself.

Fact of the matter is that I've done my share of dancing and drinking and screwing at DOs and DO believe in truth in advertising.

In fact, now that I think about it I met my GF at a DO (first Portland Brew Festival DO). And we DO like to dance, and drink and...
