Disturbaion

Dear Randy,

I'm wondering your current thoughts are about the Shoes Off blog you were promoting last week for Boarding Area. It seems that blogger has abdicated after posting a number of unsavory comments about her customers and discovering her TSA handlers don't approve of her publicly exhibiting that agencies disdain of the traveling public.

While I have your attention, I'd like to inquire if a year has been long enough for you to reach a decision on allowing a member to have their posts expunged as a relief to your unilateral decision to gift FlyerTalk to the search engine industry.

Warmest regards,

birdstrike

You might have missed that I also introduced two new Women Travelers blogs around that same time:
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/women...garea-352.html

I really have no particular thought on the blog as it's primary focus is a topic that I personally have little interest in. While I recognize that the TS/S forum is of great interest to many travelers and members of FlyerTalk, it's just not for me and we all find topics on FlyerTalk and elsewhere that are good reading for us. I particularly like View From the Wing, Loyalty Traveler, The Gate among several others on BoardingArea as they cover topics more dear to my personal interest. As for posting unsavory comments -- if this were a blog that I was reading and i soon felt that the author's comments were unsavory to my thoughts and beliefs, I'd simply discontinue reading the blog. On BoardingArea -- which is just a blog hosting Web site, there's likely many different bloggers with slightly different takes on a similar topic and that's what is great, you can freely choose to follow those with the information you find valuable.

As for the actions of her TSA handlers. While that's not a topic i have any particular knowledge about, though I would say I'm not surprised.

Sorry I don't have much to add on this but it was so new and of non-interest to me there's just not much I have to say on it.

As to your other topic: As you actually know, FlyerTalk today is not any different than it was when it began a number of years ago as to its status to the search engines. That practice was tweaked over the years as were several other practices one of which was to provide in the member TOS that members actually own their posts.

BTW, I hope that the new year has been kind to you and here's to nothing but your best year ever in your life and your travels.

NOTE: On a digress, I can say that I had never heard the word "Disturbation" before seeing that word when scanning through the Shoes Off blog. So, if I never learned anything from it, it did build my vocabulary by a single word.
