I'm flying with my wife and infant one way from Bangkok to Chicago with a 2 week stop in SFO on the way. If I purchase this as one multi-city itinerary at cheaptickets.com or vayama.com will I get the international luggage rate on the domestic flight to Chicago since it's the final stop on the itinerary? We'll be maxing out the luggage allowances. I work in Asia and so whenever we do get back to Chicago I'm always loaded, but I've never had to make a stop in between like this before. Thanks for the advice!

Welcome to FlyerTalk flyer487 !

While you are trying to save money, this is really more in line with online booking, so I'm moving your thread to Online Travel Booking and Bidding Agencies forum.

In this thread

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/conti...er-flight.html

Several people say the international rules for the baggage apply as it's all on one ticket, even with the stopover.

And a first hand experience in this thread when they said it was an international ticket

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/delta...stop-over.html

and another one on American

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/ameri...-stopover.html

and one on United

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/unite...-stopover.html

To sum them all up it appears that international rates for baggage will apply if they are on one ticket. There were many people saying that would not be the case, they did not seem to be actually flying. The people who checked bags were not charged.
