ORD-DME canceled...suggestions?

I am currently booked on an ORD-DME flight for next year.

Apparently those flights are canceled.

I assume they will want to book me ORD-LHR-DME or ORD-NRT-DME....any guesses?

I was open to going or not going to DME. If I decide I did not want to go to DME what else could I get done for free. The main purpose of the ticket was miles and touristing (2 adults 3 kids).

My current itn is:
ICN-NRT-ORD-DFW-MIA-SAL-MIA-ORD-DME-MAD-Tenrife-MAD-LHR-HKG-Penang-HKG-ICN

The routing you have given is a xONE3, not a xONE4.

Stand corrected DONE3. Already past 16 segments because of addition of Kuala Lumpur and Taiwan as stops by CX in HKG...this will increase segments to past 20

It would matter because different fares have different rules regarding involuntary reroutings.

This I don't understand - your itinerary doesn't go to Taiwan or KL (and CX flies direct HKG-Penang daily).

Apparently my flight HKG-Penang has automatically been changed to HKG-KUL-Penang-KUL-HKG and
HKG-ICN is HKG-TPE-ICN

I guess ORD-DME is a 'European route'? I guess I am looking for the most amount of miles balanced with flying AA metal to get there.

Those are one-stop flights. You should only need one flight coupon each with no change in flight numbers.

A direct flight via somewhere else (eg HKG-TPE-ICN with one flight number) only uses a single segment.

Are ORD & DME stopovers or just transits for you?

Uh? Wouldn't standard IATA involuntary rerouting rules apply to all fares?

Yes, but there might be better options than the standard conditions - I don't normally use xONEx fares, and am not familiar with their conditions, but I know from when I worked for QF and was qualified in Fares & Ticketing that there were some fares which gave greater protection that the standard conditions.

Just pointint out though that it is always helpful to know a fare basis when discussing re-routing options.
