Suggestions for my RTW

Hi,

I want to book a RTW this winter and have a few criterias.

*I have a BA emarald card and want to reach 800 tier points by feb. 7th 2010 and then get the remaining points after this date. Due to cutbacks at work I have no tier points at the moment.
* I want to get as many BA miles as possible.
* The flights must be in Business or First.
* Destinations should have a nice climate for the period
* The whole trip should be 4-5 weeks.

I have come up with the following route sofar:
cph(ba)-xlhr(ba)-cai(ba)-xlhr(ba)-xmia(AA)-gru(ba)-eze(ba)-xgru(JL)-jfk(AA)-las(AA)-xlax(AA)-hnl(JL)-nrt(JL)-bkk(ba)-xlhr(ba)-cph

Which should get me 1700 tier points and app. 55000 BA miles as far as I can esimate. Based on US domestic flights being booked in First and earning double miles on BA operated flights.

Any suggestions for improvements will be much appreciated.

You only have 15 segments used, and you could get more flight miles (not familiar with the BA scheme to know what that means in TPs), and better domestic F for a transcon in the US. Assuming you do want to go to all of the places you have as stopovers...

cph-xlhr-cai-xlhr-xmia-gru-eze-xgru-jfk-xsfo-las-xdfw-hnl-nrt-bkk-xlhr-cph
(42059 flight miles vs 38701 for yours)

If CAI and LAS are not "must" stops you can replace them with DXB and SJU, and add SIN after NRT to get:
CPH-xLHR-DXB-xLHR-xDFW-GRU-EZE-JFK-SJU-xLAX-SAL-xLAX-HNL-NRT-BKK-xLHR-CPH for a total of 49,137 miles

Thanks for your very valuable suggestions.

So far I have made some tentative changes to my agenda. It now looks like:

cph-xlhr-cai-lhr-bkk-kix-hnl-xlax-xdfw-sjo-xmia-sju-jfk-gig-xlhr-cph

cai, bkk, kix, hnl, gig - are musts. (KIX= Osaka, I had to look it up)

It is difficult to optimise Miles vs. the place I want to go.
Still open to suggestions for improvements.

For BA tier point quests, it's best to remember that DONEx books into A only on 2-class AA flights within the US (not Canada or Latin America/Caribbean.) AA doesn't call the front of the bus FC to those destinations. Thus dfw-sjo-mia-sju-jfk all in J will generate 160 TP whilst similar length non-Caribbean/Central American segments would generate 240.

This will gain you about 10.000 flown miles, and almost all segments are >2000 miles.
