AONE4: OK to Fly "L" Class Segment?

Please adivse.

I am on an AONE4 and scheduled to fly WAW-LHR on BA (29 August), which does not offer "A". The agent saw that "D" was showing "D0", so booked me on a later flight the same day, with "D" availability.

Am I allowed to change back to the earlier flight and book into "L"? (It showed L availability.)
Is there any penalty for this downgrade?

If waitlisting is allowed, I would waitlist for "D" on that earlier flight.

I am not changing the routing or the sequency, so I do not expect any change-related fees. Just not sure if I am allowed to downgrade, and without fees/charges.

I want the earlier flight so that I can maximize my time at LHR prior to my "A" flight late that night to DXB. (I can survive "L" on such a short flight--WAW-LHR.)

You can downgrade to your heart's content.

I think that means w/o charge, which is perfect.
Thank you.

I even think it is a mistake since the flight at 12:00 shows J9 C9 D0... I am pretty sure they will be able to seat you in D. Waitlisting may be the best way to go.

BA don't allow waitlisting in D these days.

But there's clearly an error there since it's showing I7, which is a lower class than D. I'd try to get to talk to someone at BA who has a clue (if they still have any such people).

I have noticed this on BA flights the other day and was also confused. My recent HEL-LHR was showing J9, C9, D0, I9 which is totally bizarre.

OP here....
My oustanding and responsive S. Korean travel agent (for my AONE4) effected my requested change (see original post). No fee/charge, just as you stated.
Thank you.

It could be because BA doesn't sell I class on the LHR-HEL route

Looking at the fares in business class between LHR and HEL , I can only see business class fares in R,D,C and J classes
