Hi Everyone,
I'm planning the following trip for my upcoming honeymoon:
YYZ/HNL/NRT/PEK/train to PVG/HKG/JNB/CPT/JNB/MRU/LHR/YYZ
I was thinking of using my BA miles to upgrade some of the segments flown by BA but I seem I recall reading that is not possible to do so.
Any advise or hints that the users of this forum could give me are very welcome to help me make this an amazing trip.
Thanks in advance

If you are talking xONEx than indeed upgrading is impossible. You need to buy the ticket in the class you want to fly. I believe you can upgrade whY to whY+ on certain segments. Not sure though.
Don't spent too much time in MRU, it is really boring. Also make sure it is the right season or it will be boring and cold/rainy.

... and any QF flights on Qantas metal may be upgraded with Qantas Frequent flyer Points ... irrespective of who issues the ticket.

Yeah she is coming...i tried but she insists
.
Thanks for all your replies. As for Mauritius i just want to chill in a beach for a few days before coming back to Mr Winter.
The trip is for the month of November so it should be summer in all the stops in the suothern hemisphere.
And based on what i've glimmer from the one world website I think it is AA that will be handling the booking.
Cheers,

From the AA site: A oneworld explorer ticket cannot be partially upgraded to a higher class. The whole ticket must be upgraded from the point of origin.
And I believe this goes for all airlines. Don't think that MFU is an exception.
EDIT
And I maybe wrong.

Although BA has no on board upgrades anymore and the whole thing maybe out of date. It is worth checking before you book.

Subject to availability, having the u/g currency, etc you can use vouchers/miles to u/g individual sectors on a RTW. I, and many others, do this.
