Hopefully S7 will work towards building a route map that links the Russian Far East with more of Asia's OW carriers. CX nor JL provide service to their Far East hubs and neither does S7 provide any service to NRT nor HKG from OVB, IKT, VVO, UUS, PKC, or KHV either.

With the current route map from both sides, the only feasible connection is to fly NRT-ICN on JL, then connect ICN-OVB via S7, and connect there once again to backtrack to VVO, UUS, PKC, and KHV.
I doubt there will be direct connections from HKG to Siberia. Rather KA HKG - PEK and S7 onwards from there. JL with NRT or maybe CTS look far more likely to begin co-operation.

Question or statement?

As answered above they're pretty good.

Malev doesn't fit the bill either, flew them back in March, nothing special. Wouldn't be surprised if they are dropped from the alliance within a year or so.

Russia S7 to join OW

Just saw this on AA website

Russia's S7 Airlines To Join oneworld
Russia's S7 Airlines will join oneworld, offering the alliance's full range of services, benefits and fares, during 2010.

With a system that covers Russia and the CIS, S7 serves 72 destinations worldwide 38 of them in Russia and brings eight countries into the oneworld network Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

It will expand oneworld's network to nearly 750 destinations in almost 150 countries, served by a combined fleet of 2,300 aircraft operating almost 8,500 flights a day, and carrying more than 330 million passengers a year.

Never heard of S7 but I don't fly in Russia..

I discovered this to my disappointment when i was on a Comair hop from Cape Town to Johannesburg before catching a separately ticketed BA flight to LHR. Access to the lounge denied.

What was your exact situation? Comair should follow all oneworld procedures, and you should be admitted if eligible.

Yep, flying Comair should mean (status wise) exactly the same as if you were flying BA.

In fact, Comair are even better at recognising status than regular BA in my experience... by which I mean they have upgraded me surprisingly often (as a QF Platinum) !

For example OW (non-BA) Emerald flying business, only admitted to business lounge despite first lounge being open (and since no longhaul flights at time of day it was near empty). Before anyone asks yes I showed my card.
