AA RTW desk playing fast and loose with *ONE* rules

Hi

Not seen this commented on here. AA RTW desk has new guidance saying *any* changes to an *ONE* ticket now requires ticket reissue, even for date/time changes.

Last week, the AA agent made a date change for me, reissued the ticket, and said that the reissuance requirement was instated to protect the pax (it ensures ticket numbers are transmitted to all airlines on the itinerary). Fine.

Today, another AA agent is refusing to make a simple date change unless I pay $125. This is a "new rule", and the agent claims this new rule trumps the rules in force at the time I bought the ticket (last December). The agent confirmed this position with her supervisor. When I asked to speak with the supervisor, he or she was unavailable but will call me back.

All sounds pretty bogus to me. If anyone has any insights to offer while I wait for the call-back, that would be much appreciated.

Update to this: no call-back from the supervisor, but the agent called again saying she'd been authorized to make the change without charge "just this once".

The stated AA position thus remains that date/time changes to an *ONE* itinerary cost $125.

Apologies if I missed an FT discussion of this; it's certainly news to me.

Getting reissued for date/time changes seems to be the norm ime with my current ATW ticket ; ( I am rebooking some QF sectors as they reach their date and I need to push back ) but there should not be a USD125 fee applied

No discussion or recent news on this topic that I'm aware of. I suspect you simply got an agent who 'misunderstood' the rules and their only (face-saving) way out was to call back and say they would do it "just this once".

I remember that for my 1st AONEx in 2002, AA required a ticket reissue for a date/time change. Then, they were concerned about stickers on paper tickets. But it was a pain as I had more than 16 segments and the city ticket office found some way to get the printer to print the entire new ticket. No fee charged though. Reissueing an e-ticket should be very easy for date/time changes though.

Not true.

Reissuing an e-ticket and a paper ticket (the kind that can be printed) require the same number of keystrokes!

Is AA still charging reissue fees for carrier (not routing) changes?

They never have to the best of my knowledge. The rules are quite clear that such changes are free of charge.

Good to hear. I just recall some people having issues with AA back in the day of paper tickets - they wouldn't change carrier without a ticket reissue.

The problem I encountered was wanting a "sticker" on the paper ticket either to change carriers or to assign a flight to an open dated coupon. It was just an unnecessary hassle - I was never asked for money.
