Check out this thread - http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/miles...er-thread.html
LAN will match to mid-tier, AA will offer your a challenge, BA, JAL and Cathay don't, digging through the thread may reveal something about the others but I'd be surprised if Qantas did.

I've just sent an email to LAN...

LAN does status match and after about one month of patience, I was given Comodoro (OW Emerald) status from my UA 1K status. I don't think this came easy as I demonstrated that I was giving LAN steady future business via my current PNRs that I had with LAN and other promising business opportunities. So, when you draft a letter, please make sure to include at least the last six months of your current FF activity, a carefully drafted letter that shows evidence for your future business with LAN, and (if you have these) any booked itineraries that you currently have with LAN.
Now, I have flown two long haul/mid-long haul segments (SYD-SCL and SCL-LIM) and the treatment has been very good (despite some minor hick ups in SYD during check-in). I was given guaranteed seat blocking on my SYD-SCL and gate agents both in SYD and AKL (short transit stop) personally told me at the time of boarding (in AKL at the time of deplaning during transit) that they have blocked the seat (not to mention small business class cabin) for me!

Any OW airlines status match Star Alliance Gold?
Would any OW airlines status match our Star Alliance Gold cards? I have Gold from Air Canada, my wife from Asiana. The OW equivalent seems to be sapphire status
We are a retired couple. We usually pay economy fares. We have taken 3 Star RTWs (the shortest - 26,000 miles) over the past few years plus many trips YYZ-LHR and to Ireland.
We are interested in lounge access/priority checkin and baggage, primarily, and retaining status in future years.
I expect we would wait to late 2009 to join the programme, and do a OW RTW then. But I would prefer to know if we could get lounge access/priority checkin if we buy an economy fare before doing the detailed planning.
If so, how do I go about it?

Is there any OW FF program offering elite status matches
for Star Alliance Gold and/or Skyteam elite plus members?
Cathay Pacific only offered silver level for me, which is not
equal to my StarG and STE+ benefits...

Unfortunately when you just end up being so pissed off with KLM, you cannot think straight!!
