Hi Guys,
Another one for the gurus to help me with.
SEL-HKG-AKL-SYD-ADL-PER-MEL-LAX-DFW-YVR-DFW-MIA-MAD-CAI-LHR-SIN-HKG-SEL
I'm stuck at the 17 segments for my DONE4 originating SEL. I need to drop a segment but struggling given the following:
1) must originate in SEL and first sector has to be to HKG.
2) must include AKL, ADL, PER, DFW, YVR, MAD, CAI, SIN
3) very keen for MEL-LAX to stay (1st experience on A380)
4) I only need ot get back to SIN, the flights back to SEL will likely be never used but I can't see any way but to waste an additional 2 segments returning to country of origin. The ICN prices are awesome at the moment but getting to and from SEL from SWP has knobs on it.
Really appreciate any help.
Paul

Great idea Christep I always forgot about that flight.^
The 2nd stop in DFW would be a plus as I have work there but failing better alternatives it gets the itin over the line.

Dump an Aussie segment. Do you really need to be wasting those on a domestic J when Y fares are so cheap. I would add a couple more in the US just for the A class

Not possible unfortunately as I'm based in PER need the AKL stop and only allowed one transcon so have to go via ADL, ASP or DRW. Otherwise I agree with you.

Buy ADL-PER-ADL as a separate ticket - that removes one coupon
leaving SYD-ADL-(ADL-PER-ADL)-MEL on the RTW
I would normally do that in the USA for short segments (DFW-AUS) or for Eagle sections. But at least there the visit USA fares provide a reasonable max fare level.

Just a question - if you had the choice of IB Business class from MIA-MAD (or JFK-MAD) versus AA Business from DFW-MAD which way would you lean. My only experince on IB was on a MAD-JNB A340 and it was really really good for J in IMHO. Do they use that same plane/config on MIA-MAD and JFK-MAD?. Seatguru shows something called "business plus" on the only IB config - what is that?

There is not much difference IMHO between IB and AA J class. If I had to choose a routing and carrier , I would probably choose AA via DFW even if I did not need a stopover in Dallas. D terminal is a good connection point. I do not like MIA and JFK.

As for AA J v. IB J I'd probably go with AA ex-DFW because of a higher certainty of keeping one's seat selection (can be an iffy thing with IB.) I'd prefer not to fly through MIA for the reasons mentioned.
