Changing DONE5

I've had a read of the FAQ's etc. and done a search, but could somebody confirm if I can change the first two segments of a DONE5. It is out of Sweden on an AA paper ticket (20 segments). My flights currently are ARN-MAD-EZE and I'm looking to change to ARN-LHR-EZE.

I've read a recentish post that says you can, but some older posts seem to say only if your ticket is from N/S America.

Thank you,

chris.

Rebooking/Rerouting
Prior to departure
Origin TC2/3
(1) After ticket issuance - date/time/oneworld carrier/inventory changes are permitted provided ticketed points remain the same.
(2) Changes other than to Date/time/oneworld carrier/inventory permitted at a charge of USD125.00 per transaction
Europe is TC2.

IIRC nothing prevents you from changing your first segments, but this leads to a reissue of your ticket (per rule 2 above) and you have to pay the USD 125 fee. A reissue also leads to the application of the current set of rules and in your case this would mean that an e-ticket would need to be issued and the 16-segment-per-itinerary limit would apply. You'd need to reduce your total segments to 16. On top, if the ex-ARN price of a DONE5 has increased in the meantime, they will charge you the new price (the whole itinerary is repriced IIRC).

The experts will be able to confirm if this is correct.

Edit to add: Checked the current rules and routing changes to the first segment are indeed permitted now, for the reissue fee. SwissexLug is correct. There should be no change in rules or fare recomputation (but the last time I did this, there was, so I am leaving my original post below, even though I think it should not apply any more in 2009).

There is a special rule for the first segment: you cannot change the routing of the first segment. For 2nd segment onwards, no problem. The only way to change the routing of the first segment is to refund the OWE and reissue it (with new fare calculation and new rules); this may or may not be a problem depending upon how the fare and rules have changed since the original issue. If you think this may affect you, the fix is to add a 1st segment that you can always fly, eg. ARN-HEL and then you can change to HEL-LHR or HEL-MAD as it is now the 2nd segment. Of course this cuts into your 16 segments, etc.
