Help With LHR T1 Questions

Thanks in advance to anyone who can assist a newbie.

I will have 3.5 hours to go from an AA flight arrival in LHR T3 to catch my next flight to Reykjavik in T1.

* Are there any lounges in T1 that I can use as a OW Sapphire? I will be transitioning to a flight on Icleand Air, in Y - separate itin.
* Will I need to exit the secure area of T3 and re-screen thru security to get to and for entrance to T1? This is assuming I will have all my bags with me.
* If I do decide to check a bag, will I need to collect baggage in T3, and re-screen thru security at T1?

Thanks again for any assistance with my q's...

To the lounge question, no - since you are not departing on oneworld.

While no access to OW departure lounge, you may be entitled to arrival lounge access at LHR. AA has a lounge at T3 (not T1) but it is convenient for the T3-T1 transfer (landside). The arrival lounge access is for arriving on AA in J or F, or payment of a fee (circa GBP 25); it is not OW status based.

As for the baggage questions, AA doesn't interline with Iceland Air, so no bagge transfer is possible. All carry-on is security screened at LHR, whether you transfer airside or landside (allow up to 1 hour for this screening, it is bad at peak times).

If you have no hold baggage, then both airside & landside* transfers are possible. For airside, follow signs to Flight Connections Centre; also see the BAA website for more info.

A landside transfer will involve you walking, either by following the signs and going down and past the underground station, or (my choice if it's not raining) by a much more direct (but un-signposted) overground route through the car parks. If you choose the latter, it might be worth playing round with Google Earth maps so you know which direction you're meant to be walking.

* requires you to clear UK immigration
