Is it normal for AA to re-check the price of a xONEx before issuing it?

Is it normal for AA to re-check the price of a xONEx before issuing it?
I booked two LONE4s for Mrs P and me on September 17th, through the AA RTW Desk. Rang back 24hrs later and was told the price.
Now this morning I rang AA in Aus to ticket and pay - and was told that the earlier price had 'expired' and it would have to be re-checked and I was to ring back in 24hrs or so
Is this the normal practice?
Scary for me, given the way the A$ has tanked over the last few weeks. I know the base ticket price is quoted in A$ and so will be unchanged - but it's all those +++ in other currencies that have me worried

Particularly at the moment, taxes are moving around as all of the currencies move.
I also have a sneaking suspiscion that AA have implemented a new policy on YQ (fuel fines) where an AA codeshare is available

Being re-priced in Australia - will be OK?
Rang AA in Aus again this morning - re-pricing has not been done yet. Was told that it is being done here in Aus, not in Dublin (and that due to the Monday public holiday, they are bit behind in their work).
My understanding is that Dublin are the gurus of pricing xONExs; anyone have experience of the accuracy of Aus pricing?
What can I do to check myself that the pricing is correct?

I very much doubt AA Australia is doing it.
As I understand it AA Dallas does all US/Canadian RTWs, AA Dublin does everywhere else. Dublin opens at 7am Dublin time (5pm Syd/ 2pm Perth)

Increase in +++ not as bad as I had anticipatd
Rang the Aus AA number this morning - the +++ had increased from A$1,135.04 to A$1,287.64 i.e. ~13.5% increase; presumably all due to the falling A$ as I hadn't changed anything
Not as bad as I had feared
FWIW I had no problem paying for the two tickets (total $9.5k+) over the phone with my mastercard. Was told ticketing will complete in 1 or 2 working days. The status of the booking on aa.com has changed already
Also they are faxing me a tax breakdown (I didn't request it - the agent just offered to do it and I of course said 'yes please')

Is this new, or unique to xONEx fares ? I had a DGLOB34 "built" in early July, and the price was guaranteed for (from memory) around 3 weeks. Even then I didn't end up purchasing until the end of August, and the price didn't need to be recalculated - but I did ring the AA desk back around the end of July and ask for an "extension", which was given for an additional four weeks (from the date I rang).

I've been told by multiple agents at the ATW desk that the price quote record (base fare + taxes + fuel fines etc) is only valid for 7 days from the date it's calculated. Whenever I've rung up the ticketing office within 7 days from the date the price quote is created, they'd issue the ticket right away. Otherwise, they have to send the itinerary back to AA Dublin (unless they have their own tariffs desk) to be repriced.

Help with understanding taxes
- JG
- JH
- JK
The third seems to be an Egyptian tax, because it appears between two other Egyptian taxes.
My complete itinerary is:
PER-SYD-JFK-BGI-BOS-LHR-CAI-AMM-IST-LHR-PEK-HKG-SIN-BKK-BOM-SYD-PER
The first two segments are AA flight numbers on QF metal (going to do the Plat challenge^), followed by three more AA flights.
The total YQ is AUD515. Does that seem about right? (On the day I paid, AUD515 was worth USD380 - been very volatile lately
)
Last edited by pandaperth; Oct 11, 2008 at 9:17 pm Reason: A$1 = US$0.74 on the day I paid - could have been worse - today's rate is A$1 = US$0.65!!

Use these .pdfs to get an idea of country specific taxes:e.g. GJ is a Barbados tax:
BARBADOS
...
...
NAME: PASSENGER SERVICE CHARGE
CODE: JG
AMOUNT: BBD55.00 to be collected for all international departing passengers
EXEMPTIONS: Infants under 2.
